CALDWELL, Idaho – Coming from behind on Saturday night, the Corban University women's basketball team earned a season split with the College of Idaho, upending the Yotes, 61-57. The triumph makes it seven victories out of the last eight games in Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) play for the Warriors.
"Road wins in this league are very hard to come by, and we really had to grind out a win tonight," said Corban head coach Bill Pilgeram. "I was really proud of how the team battled for 40 minutes. Emily Yost was huge inside with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Treasure's threes in the fourth quarter were absolute daggers."
Only 13 points in the first quarter and just seven points in the second stanza led to the Warriors trailing by nine at the halftime break.
A much more aggressive approach in the third and fourth quarters flipped the game on its head, as the Navy and Gold had the game tied by the end of the third stanza. In the fourth, the Warriors built a 12-point lead before holding on late and securing the four-point triumph.
Corban actually trailed by as many as 11 points in the third quarter, before the furious rally led to the critical triumph. Both teams in this matchup won the road game on the opposing team's floor.
Emily Yost finished with 16 points on a 7-for-12 shooting mark to go along with a game-high 16 boards. On top of her effort, Jordan Woodvine finished with 13 points and eight rebounds, while Treasure Farmer also recorded 13 points in the victory.
Off the bench, Heidi Mueller proved clutch, going 3-for-3 from the floor for eight points, including a pair of long-range efforts.
Corban (14-7, 8-3 CCC) returns to the hardwood next Friday and Saturday at home, hosting The Evergreen State College and Northwest University. Tipoff in Salem is slated for 5:30 p.m. both nights.
