No. 24 Corban Men’s Soccer Downs Carroll 2-1, Remaining Undefeated

HELENA, Mont. – In the sixth and final contest of a grueling six-game road swing, the No. 24-ranked Corban University men's soccer team defeated Carroll College by a final score of 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.

With the triumph, the Warriors move to 10-0-1 on the 2019 season, including a perfect 8-0 record in Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) play.

"We accomplished what we set out to do on this trip," said head coach Tim Kagey. "We are excited to be coming home and prepare for our homestand this weekend."

Once again, senior midfielder Camilo Avendano was in the middle of the action, ending with a goal and an assist for the second time in as many games.

Avendano finished off a rebound in the 23rd minute to start the scoring, giving the Navy and Gold an early advantage. The score would remain 1-0 until the half.

The second half started with a bang, with Carroll's Nick Lowrimore evening the score less than two minutes after the break.

Just over a minute later, Hakeem Smith put the Navy and Gold back in front, finding the back of the net in the 48th minute off an assist from Avendano. It's the sixth goal of the year for the junior from Kingston, Jamaica.

With the loss, Carroll moves to 5-6-1 (4-4 CCC) on the season, traveling to Portland next weekend for matchups with Warner Pacific and Multnomah.

The Warriors will make a long-awaited return to the CFC Soccer Complex next week, hosting high-profile matchups with Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech on Friday and Saturday. The battles—which will take place as part of a weekend full of Corban Homecoming events—are slated for 12:30 p.m. start times.
