HELENA, Mont. – The Corban University women's soccer team was held scoreless for the second-consecutive match on Saturday, falling by a 1-0 final score to the Carroll College Fighting Saints.
"Today was a similar game to yesterday; it felt like we deserved a bit more and that we created more good chances," said head coach Derek Faulkner. "We gave them one opportunity and they put it away, but that's soccer. We are definitely looking forward to being back home next weekend and finishing our conference season strong."
Offense was sparse on both sides, with both teams mustering just three shots in the first 45 minutes. The two squads entered the locker room in a scoreless deadlock, with Malie Kuia and Sydney Green anchoring their respective units in goal.
Though chances were few and far between, Melissa Dugger converted an opportunity in the 60th minute for the Saints, finishing off a pass from Kirsten Girolami to provide the only scoring of the afternoon.
The shot count for the match finished even at seven apiece, while Corban saw a slight advantage in corner kicks earned (5-3).
Rylee MacDonald (three shots), Hannah Shore (two shots), and Emma Rosner (two shots) accounted for Corban's seven shots, while each fired one on frame.
Having now played six-straight matches away from Salem, the Warriors (7-5-1, 4-3-1 CCC) will now return home for a crucial weekend of Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) competition. The matches will coincide with Homecoming Weekend, which will feature a full array of events on the Corban University campus.
Kick off for both Friday's battle against Southern Oregon and Saturday's duel against Oregon Tech will take place at 3 p.m. at the CFC Soccer Complex.
