No. 12 Corban Volleyball Earns Four-Set Victory over Oregon Tech

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – In the first of two pivotal Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) matches this weekend, the No. 12-ranked Corban University volleyball team got off to a strong start, downing the Oregon Tech Owls in four sets (18-25, 25-18, 25-16. 25-13).

Sarena Bartley was outstanding for the Navy and Gold in the triumph, collecting a game-high 14 kills on a stellar .407 attack percentage.

"We came out tentative tonight," said head coach Kim McLain. "We struggled with passing, which kept us scrambling at the net. Once we turned it around, we found our groove for executing our offense. I was also excited to see us be consistent throughout the rest of the match, finishing strong."

The Owls jumped out to an early lead, capitalizing on seven Warrior errors to take set one, 25-18. Unfazed, Corban claimed each of the next three games, hitting over .300 (.310, .382, .417) in the impressive offensive display.

Bartley led the way, with her 14-kill performance matching her previous career-high. One kill off the pace, Cassie Cunningham tallied 13 putaways in the triumph, hitting at a .250 clip.

Jadyn Mullen (28) and Ciarra Judson (17) did the distributing, notching a combined 45 assists on the evening.

Defensively, Kealani Ontai was again superb, ending the night with a team-high 22 digs, while also adding six assists of her own.

Corban (15-6, 12-3 CCC) will now look ahead to a highly-anticipated contest tomorrow night with No. 9-ranked Southern Oregon University (21-3, 12-2 CCC). As it currently stands, the Warriors sit just a half game back of the Raiders in the conference regular-season standings.

The last time the two NAIA powerhouses met up was on September 20 at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center, with Corban sweeping the matchup in convincing fashion.

Tomorrow night's duel—which is slated to begin at 7 p.m.—promises to be a must-watch battle, with crucial CCC implications on the line.
