SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – After the eighth-seeded Corban University women's soccer team stunned No. 1-seeded Oregon Tech last night, second-seeded Eastern Oregon withstood the Warriors upset bid in Wednesday evening's Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Semifinal, presented by U.S. Bank.
The (RV) Mounties earned a 3-0 triumph in the contest, advancing to the conference championship and ending the Warriors' season.
The defenses starred in the first half, with the first goal of the contest not coming until the 41st minute. While the Warriors' Elizabeth Brock was exceptional in goal—collecting five saves in the first 25 minutes—it was Camie Edgington who first broke through.
Entering the half trailing 1-0, the game still felt very much felt in reach of the Navy and Gold at the midway point.
However, the Mounties' Lindsay Balkenbush provided some insurance in the 58th minute, doubling the lead with her second goal of the season.
Morgan Farrington rounded out the scoring for Eastern Oregon, finding the back of the net for the 10th time in 2019.
Corban ends the fall with a 10-8-1 overall record, having gone 6-5-1 in CCC play. The future remains bright for the Navy and Gold, with six of the squad's starting eleven—including the team's two leading goal scorers, Chanel Garcia and Klarissa Barajas—slated to return in 2020.
