"It was a very tough, hard-fought playoff game," said Corban head coach Bill Pilgeram. "Our effort was amazing for the entire 40 minutes which is what we needed tonight. JW was such a threat tonight and created opportunity after opportunity for herself and her teammates. I can't say enough about our senior leadership and how they are leading Corban WBB to a whole new level!"
The Warriors were firing on all cylinders early, making six of their first seven shots to take the early advantage. Northwest utilized a very good inside game in the first half, however, and kept things close throughout the first 20 minutes, pulling to within six points by the halftime break.
In the second half, it was back and forth the entire way, as the Eagles hit a number of deep long-range efforts to push the Navy and Gold to the brink.
Up by just a few points late on, the Warriors were able to nail a number of contested shots while registering important steals and forcing Northwest into a few turnovers in the final minute, resulting in the 12-point victory.
Woodvine's 41 points came on a 15-for-26 shooting effort as she sank four from beyond the arc. She also grabbed four boards and dished out two assists, recorded two blocks as well as two steals. She now sits four points shy of tying Corban's single season scoring record.
In addition, Emily Yost finished with a double-double, scoring 14 points on a 6-for-7 shooting mark and hauled in 11 rebounds. Moreover, Treasure Farmer dished out a team-best nine assists while Kendra Murphy racked up a team-leading three blocks.
