Warrior Women’s Hoops Falls in CCC Tournament Title Game – Still Headed to Nationals

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Top-seeded Eastern Oregon University won its third-straight Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Women's Basketball Tournament Championship, downing No. 2-seeded Corban University on Monday night in the title game, 75-60. Despite the loss, the Warriors still earn the CCC's second automatic berth to the NAIA Women's Basketball Division II National Championships.

"We ran into a very good Eastern team on their home court tonight and just didn't do enough little things to get the win," said Corban head coach Bill Pilgeram. "I'm very proud of the effort tonight, and we will look forward now to getting the bracket and preparing for the National Tournament!"

The Warriors found offense hard to come by early on, trailing 18-8 after the first 10 minutes.

Corban got into more of an offensive rhythm, scoring 18 points in quarter number two, but so did EOU, scoring 21. The Warriors did well to cut into the deficit late in the half, however, highlighted by five-straight Jordan Woodvine points.

Trailing by 13 points headed into the third quarter, the Navy and Gold came out firing, and after an early bucket down low and then a long-range effort from Treasure Farmer, Corban had the Mountaineers' lead down to nine points.

EOU finished the third quarter strong, however, and led by 19 points headed into the fourth.

Corban managed to finish the game strong offensively and defensively, scoring 16 points while holding EOU to just 12 in the final 10 minutes, but it was too little too late in the defeat.

Emily Yost had a standout game for Corban down low, shooting 8-for-11 from the floor with a team-best 18 points and seven boards, while Farmer finished with 14 points and a team-leading seven assists in the loss. Jordan Rasberry went 3-for-5 from the floor with nine points and five rebounds, while Kendra Murphy was efficient down low with a 4-for-5 showing with nine points.

In addition, Woodvine totaled seven points, seven boards, and five assists.

For EOU, Maya Ah You Dias led the way with a game-high 27 points and seven boards on a 10-for-19 shooting mark, while Maren Herrud totaled 17 points for the Mountaineers off the bench.

As a team, EOU hit nine shots from deep and shot 34.6% for the game while going 44.4% overall from the field. Corban made just 17.6% of its shots from deep and only 41.1% of its shots overall. Additionally, the Warriors went just 11-of-22 from the charity stripe.

Corban (24-9) will find out who it will be playing in Sioux City, Iowa, at the NAIA Women's Basketball Division II National Championships when the announcement is made on February 27 at 4 p.m. PT. WATCH the SELECTION SHOW here.
