SALEM, Ore. – In two very contrasting games, the No. 16-ranked Corban University softball team claimed a pair of wins against Eastern Oregon University on Saturday, winning 12-1 in six innings in the opener and 1-0 in the nightcap. The two victories push Corban's winning streak to 10 games.

"We had two great wins today," said Corban head coach Abigail Farler. "We saw great pitching performances from both Sarah and Rachel. Offensively, we had great production the first game out of the majority of our lineup. I would like to see us be able to adjust a little quicker than we did in the second game, however, but I am proud of how the team was able to manufacture a run to give us the win in the nightcap."
With the series having flipped from La Grande to Salem due to snow at EOU, Corban played as the 'visiting' team at Warrior Field both games. It did not seem to faze the Warriors, as in the top of the first, Corban put up two runs, highlighted by a Sam Woodley RBI triple.
Corban added a pair in the second and another in the third to take a commanding 5-0 advantage in Saturday's opener.
The Mountaineers pulled one back in the fourth, but the Warriors then added one in the fifth and six in the sixth, capped by a Madison Wyllie two-run home run. For Wyllie, it marked her second home run in as many weeks.
Up 12-1 in the sixth, Sarah Probasco closed things out in the run-rule victory, going all six innings while surrendering just two hits and an unearned run while striking out five.
Wyllie finished 3-for-3 at the dish with three RBI and two runs scored, while Jessie Isham, Mahina Chong, Tatum Prechtel and Woodley all finished with two hits for the Warriors in the dominant win.
In game two, runs were very hard to come by, as both starting pitchers were rolling early on, keeping the opposing teams' chances at the bare minimum.
EOU got runners in scoring position in the sixth, so the Warriors made a move to the bullpen and brought in Alyssa Vidal. Vidal came in and shut the door, getting out of the jam to give Corban a chance at the dish.
In the top half of the seventh, Kaylee Buhrkuhl hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Megan Rybar to give the Warriors the 1-0 lead.
That run would prove to be the only of the game, as Vidal finished off the Mountaineers in the seventh, finishing the game with a double-play to seal it.
Vidal went 1.2 innings while allowing just one hit and no runs, while Rachel White was outstanding in the circle, dispersing five hits while giving up no runs.
EOU (2-14, 1-4 CCC) was equally as impressive in the circle, as Ashton Kazmierski threw four scoreless innings and Lauren Spencer, despite getting the loss, went three innings while giving up just one hit and one run.
For the Warriors, Chong registered a 2-for-3 performance in the triumph, while Haley Ebner went 2-for-3 for EOU in the defeat.
Corban (12-4, 5-0 CCC) returns to the field tomorrow when it will finish the series with EOU. First pitch for the CCC contest is slated for 11 a.m., while the non-conference game will close out the series at 1 p.m. Only Live Stats will be available for the doubleheader.
