KIRKLAND, Wash. – In the second game of a back-to-back in Washington, the Corban University women's basketball team earned yet another conference win, this time defeating the Northwest University Eagles by a wide margin. The Warriors made good use of a strong night shooting from long-range, and tough, rigid defense on the way to a convincing 76-53 victory.

"Our team effort and grit were exceptional tonight," said head coach Bill Pilgeram. "Rebounding and defense really were the difference from the start."

The Warriors allowed just five first-quarter points to roar out of the gate to a 19-5 lead after one stanza. The defensive effort helped propel the Navy and Gold to the triumph, constantly pressuring the Eagles' shooters.

Shawnie Spink was feeling it from deep in tonight's matchup, draining 5-of-6 attempts from beyond the arc. Her 17 points set a new career high in that category. She also was accountable for six of the team's 29 total made field goals, which was another career best for Spink.

"Shawnie Spink shooting 10-of-15 on threes for the weekend was a huge lift and it is great to see her confidence soar," said Pilgeram.

Jordan Woodvine was the team leader in scoring, with 18 points on 8-of-17 from the field. One of her makes was from downtown. She spread the love in the tilt as well, being credited for five assists on the ledger.

Shaelie Burgess and Kendra Murphy had a big impact on the game with their strong rebounding performances. They cleaned the glass for 11 and nine rebounds, respectively.

For Northwest, it was Maya DuChesne who stood out, hitting five shots in nine attempts, totaling 11 points. She was the lone player for the Eagles who earned a double-digit point total against the Warriors.

The Warriors (14-7, 10-3 CCC) will head to Eugene, Ore. for a mid-week conference clash at No. 22-ranked Northwest Christian University, which may have significant ramifications for seeding of the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) tournament, considering the Beacons' current thin hold of the No. 1 seed. After a strong two-win weekend, the Navy and Gold will look to ride a wave of momentum into Eugene this Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
