SALEM, Ore. – Corban University has announced that the Warrior athletic department will undergo a transition in leadership, effectively immediately, with Twiggs Reed departing from his role as athletic director.

"Twiggs is a true coach of the coaches," said Corban University President Sheldon Nord. "His experience and training with Young Life are so evident as he seeks to encourage and disciple coaches and student-athletes. I have the utmost regard for him as a brother and a friend."

Reed joined the Corban athletic staff in the summer of 2018, playing a pivotal role in the department's growth and success over the past two years.

During his time at the helm, he oversaw the addition of four new varsity sports, including men's wrestling (2019-20), women's wrestling (beginning 2020-21), beach volleyball (2020) and women's lacrosse (beginning 2021).

In his two years of leadership, 13 Warrior teams made appearances at the NAIA Championships, while Reed also garnered a reputation for his robust passion for mentoring and investing in student-athletes outside of the arena of competition.

"Twiggs is a class act," said Vice President for Student Life, Brenda Roth. "He led and encouraged others in their walk with the Lord, and he has blessed this community with his emphasis on discipleship. I value his contributions to the Corban athletic department."

In the wake of Reed's departure, Sue Roth has been appointed interim athletic director. "I have full confidence in Sue's competence, character, and leadership capacities," said [Brenda] Roth, "She is respected throughout not only the athletic department, but the university as a whole."

Due to the rapidly-evolving circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, a position posting for the athletic director role will be delayed. In the meantime, [Sue] Roth will lead the department with the assistance of Jarett Thoren, director of athletic communications.
