SALEM, Ore. – The No. 5-ranked Corban University volleyball team earned another straight-set victory on Saturday evening (25-12, 25-14, 25-12), defeating Warner Pacific University inside of the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center to sweep the season series with the Knights.
"It was great to see everyone contribute to another conference win," said head coach Kim McLain. "We look forward to getting back in the gym in order to prepare for another weekend ahead."
Corban set the tone early, scoring nine of the match's first 10 points to take a commanding early advantage in set one, eventually leading to a 25-12 triumph. Rylee Troutman was exceptional in the first stanza, tallying a team-high six kills on a ridiculous .857 hitting percentage.
That momentum continued into the second and third games, as the Warriors won by double digits in each of the following sets (25-14, 25-12). Of interest, sisters Avari Ridgway and Ainslee Ridgway each had to the same number of kills and the same hitting percentage through the first two sets.
Troutman finished with a game-high 11 putaways on an impressive .412 hitting percentage, while Avari Ridgway (.583 attack percentage) and Ainslee Ridgway (.467 attack percentage) each ended the night with eight kills.
Freshman Jadah Schmidtke continues to make the most of her opportunities on the floor, going a perfect six kills for six attempts in Saturday's victory, while also assisting four blocks.
Defensively, Allyson Reid was in on five blocks and registered a block assist, shutting down WPU's attackers. She also added four kills of her own on an efficient .571 clip.
Troutman and Makenna Campbell each tallied five digs to lead the Warriors in the category, while three members of the Navy and Gold—Jadyn Mullen, Kealani Ontai, and Marissa Uehara—notched four digs.
Mullen also dished out 20 assists, doing the bulk of the squad's offensive facilitating.
The Warriors (21-1, 15-1 CCC) will now hit the road for a pivotal road series next weekend, facing off with Oregon Tech on Friday and Southern Oregon on Saturday. Both matches are slated to get underway at 7 p.m.
