Furious Second-Half Vaults Corban Men’s Soccer to 4-0 Win over Multnomah

SALEM, Ore. – The (RV) Corban University men's soccer team flexed its offensive muscle in the second half of Saturday afternoon's Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) battle against Multnomah University, scoring three second half goals in the span of eight minutes to claim a 4-0 victory over the Lions.

Corban's defense was relentless in the triumph, holding Multnomah without a shot during the 90 minutes.

"I'm really proud of the way we competed today," said director of soccer Tim Kagey. "We put together the most complete performance of the year. Now, we turn our focus to next weekend."

Offensively, Evan Hoover got things started in the 12th minute, poking in a shot from close range to account for the squad's lone first-half goal.

The Warriors controlled possession for much of the remainder of the half, but the squad struggled to convert its opportunities. The offense finally broke through in the 51st minute, when Alexis Luna scored his third goal of the season to double the advantage. Reggie Reyes—who set up Hoover's first-half goal—assisted the score, playing a pivotal role in each of the squad's first two goals.

Just five minutes later, Hoover earned a brace with his second goal of the match (57'), converting a pass from Luna. It's the first brace of the veteran's career.

That put the game well out of reach, but less than two minutes later, Reyes put the match on ice. After assisting the first two goals of the game, Reyes found the back of the net himself in the 58th minute, rounding out the Navy and Gold's scoring in the dominant victory. Alvaro Arche picked Reyes out with a well-placed pass, earning his third assist of the season (tied for the team lead).

With two impressive showings in the squad's first home series of the season, the Navy and Gold have a lot to be excited about after this six-point weekend.

The Warriors (6-3, 5-1 CCC) will continue their homestand next weekend, hosting Northwest University on Friday and The Evergreen State College on Saturday at the CFC Soccer Complex. Kick off for Friday's match is slated for 12:30 p.m., while Saturday's duel against the Geoducks is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
