SALEM, Ore. – The Corban University women's soccer team's offense showed up in spurts on Saturday, scoring a pair of goals within a minute of each other on two separate occasions. In the end, the Navy and Gold continued its strong start to the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) campaign, moving to 5-2 in CCC competition with a 4-1 triumph over The Evergreen State College.

"Today wasn't the prettiest game, but we got the three points," said director of soccer Tim Kagey. "Now, we turn our focus to next week."

After firing off 15 shots without finding the back of the net, the Warriors finally broke through in the 38^th minute, when Mei Suetsugu sent a ball into the box, and Juliana Pires blasted it in to give the Navy and Gold the lead.

Just 36 seconds later, a Geoduck foul in the box gave the hometown squad an opportunity to double its advantage. Jamine Biava converted the penalty kick, making it a 2-0 Warrior lead before the half.

After a lull in the action to begin the second period, the Geoducks took advantage of a golden opportunity during a counterattack in the 65^th minute. Celia Scruton crossed a ball in to Brieanna Dell, who cut the deficit in half with her second goal of the fall.

Corban got that goal back in the 80^th minute, when Chanel Garcia shot in a loose ball in the box to put the lead back at two. Once again, it didn't take long for the squad to strike again, as Maria-Frances Serrant scored her conference-leading 11^th goal of the season in the 81^st minute to round out the Navy and Gold's scoring. Emma Rosner sent in the cross that Serrant scored on, earning her third assist of the season.

The Warriors out-shot Evergreen 26-3 in the dominant offensive showing, and the team has now outscored its opponents 21-2 at home.

Corban (9-2, 5-2 CCC) will look to close its six-match homestand strong next weekend, hosting University of Providence at 3 p.m. on Friday and Rocky Mountain College at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
