SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – On Monday, the Corban University women's soccer team scored its most goals in a single game since 2008, blasting past Bushnell University in a 7-0 triumph. Juliana Pires accounted for nearly half of the scoring, notching a hat trick in the dominant showing.
"We were great today!" said interim head coach Tim Kagey about the performance. "We are excited to get back to work and prepare for next weekend."
In contrast to yesterday's triumph—during which the Navy and Gold went scoreless for the entire first half—it took little time for the Warrior offense to get started on Monday. Skyla Vogelpohl struck just over a minute into the contest, collecting a cross from Maria-Frances Serrant just outside the box, and blasting a perfect strike into the top-left corner of the net.

That set the tone for the remainder of the duel, as the Warrior offense fed off the early momentum and poured on a relentless first-half attack.
Pires netted her first goal of the day in the 16th minute, extending the Corban lead to two. She then assisted the next score, which came off the foot of Chanel Garcia in the 34th minute.
Capping off a first-half brace, Pires then snuck in another goal just minutes before the midway mark, finishing off a through ball from Serrant to give Corban a comfortable 4-0 lead at the half.
Not content there, Mei Suetsugu scored for the second-consecutive day less than four minutes after the break (49'), curling in a beautiful free kick.
Opening her account for the Navy and Gold, Moe Sato was involved in each of Corban's final two goals, finding the back of the net in the 65th minute and assisting Pires' third goal in the 69th.
Devan Archer earned her second win of the year in net, collecting a save in the shutout victory.
In every aspect of the game, it was a dominating display for Corban, which appears to be finding its stride in the early portion of the 2021 spring campaign.
The Warriors (2-1, 2-0 CCC) will make their home debut next weekend, hosting Oregon Tech on Sunday and Monday at the CFC Soccer Complex. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m.
