No. 7 Corban Volleyball Sets Record with 11th-Consecutive Win, Downing Bushnell

SALEM, Ore. – In front of a packed crowd at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center, the No. 7-ranked Corban University volleyball team made history on Tuesday night, defeating Interstate-5 rival Bushnell University in four sets (25-17, 23-25, 25-14, 25-14) to win its 11th-consecutive match. Tuesday's victory marks the longest winning streak in the program's history.

"Bushnell came out to battle!" said head coach Kim McLain. "We knew we had to win the serve and pass game. Defense both at the net and in the back court made a big impact tonight!"

The two teams fought back and fourth in each of the first two matches, with Corban pulling away late in the first stanza to take an early advantage in games, and Bushnell responded with a gritty triumph in the second game to even the set count at one.

Corban won the momentum back in its favor with a resounding triumph in set three, claiming a 25-14 triumph. That would be the final score of the fourth and final set, as well, sealing the historic victory in front of a raucous crowd at Tim Hills Court.

Offensively, the Warriors' standout tandem of Avari Ridgway (16 kills, .333 attack percentage) and Rylee Troutman (16 kills, .268 attack percentage) showed up in a big way, propelling the squad to .242 attacking mark as a group.

They each tallied 10 digs, as well, part of four Warriors—Kealani Ontai (18 digs), Jadyn Mullen (12 digs), Ridgway, and Troutman—to tally double-digit digs.

At the net, Cora Furman was in on six blocks, and Allyson Reid registered a block solo and five block assists. The duo's defensive efforts up front were invaluable to Corban's defensive success.

Mullen dished out 28 assists in the victory, while Ciarra Judson added 14 to help facilitate the offense.

Jessica Northcutt (14 kills, .206 attack percentage) and Shay Coons (13 kills) led the way for the Beacons (7-2, 3-1 CCC) in the defeat, which marks the squad's first loss in Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) play.

Corban (11-0, 5-0 CCC) will look to stay hot this weekend with two more pivotal home matches. The Navy and Gold will host No. 21 Southern Oregon on Friday and Oregon Tech on Saturday, with both contests slated to begin at 7 p.m.
