OLYMPIA, Wash. – For the eleventh time this season, the (RV) Corban University Men's Soccer team (11-1-0, 6-1-0) shutout their opponent over 90 minutes of regulation play, with this victory coming from the Geoducks Pitch against The Evergreen State College (4-6-0, 3-4-0) Friday afternoon alongside a 2-0 win margin.
"Good result today," Warriors' Head Coach Tim Kagey said following this afternoon's shutout. "It was great to see the depth of our team shine through today. Great energy from the group from start to finish."
The eleven wins Corban has earned this year have all come via shutouts, and still hold the most ridiculous line of the entire NAIA of 44 goals scored but allowing only 20 shots on goal to all opponents in total. They also now hold the lowest goals against average in the NAIA with a 0.08 stat line.
The Warriors jumped on the board first in the 31st minute, when freshman forward Jaden Dubon added to his season goal count with his sixth of the season, tying him for the team-high with three other Corban student-athletes. Senior forward Reggie Reyes assisted him on the play for his fifth assist on the year, which ties him with sophomore midfielder Alexis Luna for the team leader spot in that statistic.
In the 79th minute, a penalty kick was awarded to senior forward Yuki Onishi, who connected with the back of the net to earn his third goal of the year, and his first since September 18th against Walla Walla.
Luna led the Warriors' squad in shot attempts with six this afternoon, while Onishi and junior midfielder Gian Gargurevich both recorded three shots on goal.
The Corban defensive line allowed only four shots all afternoon against the Geoducks, none of which were on goal to allow graduate student goalkeeper Quinn McCallion (11-1) to earn his 11th shutout of the year with ease, jumping him to a third-place tie with Corban all-time great Jordan Farr in the Corban record books for shutouts in a single season.
Geoducks goalkeeper Colin Hauser allowed two goals to take the loss this afternoon, knocking down 10 saves in the process. Forward Jax Buckley and midfielder Lucas Alcala each earned a pair of the team's shots for the contest.
The Warriors return to action tomorrow afternoon at 3pm PDT against Northwest University (5-5-2, 3-3-1) at the NU Athletic Field for the Eagles' Senior Day festivities.
