Seniors Honored in Women's Basketball's Final Home Game of the Season

SALEM, Ore. – The Corban University women's basketball team scored in double-digits in each quarter, but Lewis-Clark State College came out victorious. Turnovers loomed large in the squad's 75-56 defeat in the hands of the Warriors on Saturday.

Keila Tsutsui, Kaci Paffhausen, and Gracie McCoy were honored prior to the start of the game for their time with and contribution to the program.

Head coach Bill Pilgeram said, "We graduated three amazing young ladies and were able to honor them well tonight. Keila, Kaci, And Gracie played well, but more importantly have represented our program on and off the court throughout their entire careers."

Corban came out strong in the first quarter, keeping the opposing Warriors to just 16 points and scoring 13 of their own. LCSC added 20 in the second frame, while the Navy and Gold matched their first quarter scoring with 13. LCSC scored 29 points off turnovers and Corban was not able to narrow the gap in the second half.

Pilgeram added, "I was very proud of how the team executed and competed this time around versus a very good team. The difference from last game to this game was night and day."

For Corban, it was the squad's junior powerhouse down low that shined brightest in the loss, as Holy Golenor recorded her eleventh double-double of the season with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Paffhausen grabbed nine rebounds of her own for the Warriors and tallied three of points.

In the back court, each senior dished a pair of assists. Gemma LaVergne added 17 points, and coming off the bench, Madison Hodnett added five points and four rebounds.

LCSC landed four players in double figures, led by star Callie Stevens' 16 points and five steals, which both served as team-leading marks. Maddie Holm (15 PTS, 2 AST, 7 REB) was invaluable on both sides of the ball, and Hannah Broyles (12 PTS), and Ellie Sander (10 PTS) filled up the stat sheet, as well.

Corban (5-22, 4-16 CCC) will make its final road trip of the year next weekend, traveling to The Evergreen State College on Friday (5:30 p.m. start time) and then heading to Northwest University the following afternoon (3 p.m. start time).
