CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) office announced the WVT Laboratory CCC Players of the Week on Monday, listing Corban University baseball ace Zack Simon as the conference's Pitcher of the Week on the heels of his historic performance against Ottawa University (Ariz.) on Friday evening.

"Simon pitched a heck of a game," said head coach Derek Legg about his righty's start. "He commanded both sides of the plate early and often, and he competed in big situations. This might be one of the best pitching performances I have ever seen."
Simon—the defending CCC Pitcher of the Year—was absolutely electrifying on the mound against the Spirit, hurling six innings without surrendering an earned run in his first win of the season.
He scattered four hits and didn't walk a batter during that span, but most impressively, he fanned 12 Ottawa hitters during those six innings of work, tying for the second-most strikeouts by a pitcher in a single game in the program's history.
In 10 innings of work so far this season, he has yet to allow an earned run, he has struck out 16 batters, and opposing hitters are batting just .171 against him.
