First Career Hat Trick from Dubon Leads No. 25 Warriors to Conference Opening Victory over Saints

SALEM, Ore. – For the sixth straight time to begin the 2022 season, the No. 25 Corban University Men's Soccer team (6-0-0, 1-0-0) shutout their opponent for 90 straight minutes, as the Warriors secured a 4-0 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) victory over the Carroll College Saints at the Outdoor Athletic Complex.

"I thought we had a quality first half tonight," Corban Head Coach Tim Kagey stated earlier tonight.

"As the game progressed, I saw a lot of areas that we look forward to addressing in training. It was great to see Jaden put together a performance like that tonight. We have a lot of belief in what we can accomplish," Kagey went on to say.

Corban dominated the pitch from the opening kickoff, and never let the pressure off the throttle the entire contest. In their first conference contest of the season, Kagey and the Warriors needed to set the tone for what they wanted to accomplish this year in an ever-competitive CCC.

In the 17th minute, sophomore midfielder Alexis Luna connected on his team-leading fifth goal of the season, scorching a laser beam of a shot off a Saints defender and into the back right corner of Carroll's net.

From the 36th minute on, it became the Jaden Dubon show, as the freshman forward would go on to score the next three goals for his first career hat trick, and tie Luna in goal count this season with his third, fourth, and fifth scores all coming tonight.

His first opportunity came on a penalty kick with less than ten minutes remaining in the first half, pushing the ball past Saints' goalkeeper Mathias Graveson, and thus doubling the Corban lead to 2-0.

Less than five minutes later, a beautiful hockey assist from redshirt junior forward Nate Sherwood found sophomore midfielder/forward Andres Labate in the middle of the penalty box, who slipped a header right over the heads of the Carroll defenders and right into the area Dubon needed to easily finish the scoring play.

Dubon's third and final goal of the evening came in the 79th minute, when senior forward Reggie Reyes utilized a free kick just outside the penalty box to connect with Dubon within a few feet from the net, putting Graveson on skates for the hat trick clincher.

As a team, the Warriors outshot the Saints 16-4 and dominated the opportunities in front of the net 10-1. Corban also held the advantage in corner kicks 9-5, and committed far less fouls in an 11-17 ratio in favor of the Saints.

Warriors' graduate student goalkeeper Quinn McCallion (6-0-0) posted his sixth straight shutout tonight, requiring only one save in total on an astonishing diving play into the air to keep the Saints off the board.

Carroll recorded just four shots all night, only one of which came on goal off the foot of forward Rory Bloy. Graveson (0-2-0) recorded six saves but allowed four goals to drop his second game of the year.

The No. 25 Warriors are back in action this upcoming Sunday, when they host the Wolves of Walla Walla University at 5pm PDT at the OAC.
