No. 6 Warriors Leave Geoducks Stuck in Mud with Three-Set Road Sweep

OLYMPIA, Wash. – A four-game road trip for the No. 6-ranked Corban University Volleyball team kicked off on a high note this evening at the Constantino Recreation Center, as the Warriors cruised to a three-set sweep of The Evergreen State College to extend their winning streak to seven-straight matches, 25-17, 25-10, and 25-14.

"I was proud of the girls stayed levelheaded for the entire match," Corban head coach Kim McLain shared following her team's third consecutive sweep. "They were able to keep themselves composed and not allow Evergreen State to find a rhythm a majority of the night, which allowed us to stay in system and win the game in serve-receive."

It was strictly business for the Warriors (22-3, 16-1) on the road this evening as they begin their final descent into the end of conference play, as five matches now sit between Corban and the postseason with already having clinched a spot in the upcoming Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Tournament. The Navy and Gold held the Geoducks (3-18, 3-14) to a mere .018 kill percentage on their own home court, sending back seven team blocks and forcing 15 attacking errors.

Evergreen State held their own early to begin each set, but the experience and consistency of the Warriors' lineup proved to be too much for the hometown team to handle, resulting in a handful of Corban scoring runs to eventually force the Geoducks to utilize every timeout they had at their disposal.

Junior outside hitter Rylee Troutman continues to pace the Warriors conference's most consistent offence, dropping another 19 kills this evening on a .410 attacking clip. The reigning CCC Player of the Year added ten digs in the backcourt to record her eighth double-double of the season and second consecutive double-digit marks. Sophomore opposite hitter Makayla Roginski added nine kills and three block assists at the net for Corban.

The Corban offense was ran primarily by freshman setter Nadeiah Howard tonight who dealt out a game-high 20 assists and added eight digs, while sophomore setter Abby Guindy was right behind with 15 dimes and four digs.

Junior defensive specialist Graci Zanona led all players tonight with a game-high 14 digs, while junior libero Marissa Uehara pitched in an additional 12 digs. Defensively at the net, Roginski was joined by junior middle blockers Jadah Schmidtke and Allyson Reid who all had a trio of block assists, with Reid adding a solo stuff.

Geoducks' outside hitters Andee Nelson and Ashley Walker each tallied six kills to lead their program, while setter Jessica Mitchell secured a team-high 18 assists. Libero Rylee Grams was in hit pursuit of the game-high digs count with 12 this evening.

The Warriors will end the weekend Washington trip in Kirkland tomorrow night, as they'll face off with the RV Eagles of Northwest University (15-7, 12-5) at 7pm.
