SALEM, Ore. – The Corban University Women's Lacrosse team (1-3) was unable to hold off a late rally by the home squad Multnomah University Lions (2-6) this afternoon at Williford Field, resulting in a 12-11 overtime loss where the Warriors
"I think this is one of those times where we underestimated our opponent," Corban Head Coach Kylie McMinn began with stating later this evening. "We had weird energy in the first quarter but picked it up in the second."
McMinn continued by sharing, "When we looked good, we looked really good, but we just did not communicate well for the majority of the game. We know what we need to do to fix it, and we'll be ready when we play them at home next week."
With no play-by-play available from Multnomah, the statistics provided were purely on a per-player basis and not necessarily to any period or minute. That being said, junior goalkeeper Payton Nuse took her third loss on the year after allowing 12 goals and snagging 11 saves.
Lions' goalkeeper Kyndra Knuth posted an almost identical stat line to Nuse, as she saw 11 goals fly by her and added 11 saves of her own.
Junior attacker Sydney Davis led the offensive charge for the Navy and Gold, scoring four goals and adding an assist along the way. Meanwhile, freshman attacker Naomi Rauch recorded her first collegiate hat trick, while also dealing out an assist to Davis. Junior defender Katie Beebe played up-field to record a brace with her first two goals scored this year.
Multnomah midfielders Aviana Gonazales and Mariah Querequincia each scored four goals apiece in their hometown victory.
With their final road game of the 2023 season in the rearview mirror, the Warriors will return home to host back-to-back matches with Eastern Oregon University (0-6) tomorrow and Saturday, beginning at 6:30pm and 1pm PDT, respectively.
