Last Second Free Throws Ice Corban Men’s Basketball in Comeback Bid Over Eastern Oregon

SALEM, Ore. – For the second-consecutive evening, the Corban University Men's Basketball team dropped a down-to-the-wire contest on their home court, as the Eastern Oregon University Mountaineers hit their final free throw attempts to earn a gutsy 68-64 win on Tim Hills Court.

Another set of offensive cold streaks at the most inopportune times for the Warriors (9-5, 6-3) resulted in the program's second-straight loss and first two on their home court during the 2023-24 season, with the Mountaineers (5-11, 4-6) taking advantage of the uncharacteristic mistakes that Corban was making throughout the contest.

The Mounties held a 15-point margin over the Navy and Gold in bench points this evening, alongside six more points in the paint and four additional points off turnovers. Every time the Corban lineup figured out how to gain some momentum, Eastern Oregon drew up the exact result they needed to keep themselves from relinquishing the desperately needed road win for the now 5-11 squad.

Once again, Warriors' junior forward Jay Wilson was the leading scorer on the floor for either team, scoring 22 points and bringing down five rebounds with a pair of blocks and steals. Junior guard Aundree Polk added ten points off the bench as the only other Corban student-athlete in double-digit scoring.

After starting off the contest with a scoreless streak, Mountaineers' guard Aj Huddleston caught fire from beyond the three-point arc and at the free throw line to lead his team in scoring at 18 points in a game-high 32 minutes played. Forward Kamal Muhammad provided the Eastern Oregon with the post play they needed in a reserve role, scoring 14 points and tallying five rebounds.
