No. 4 Southern Oregon Moves Win Streak to Ten as Corban Women’s Basketball Struggles Defensively

SALEM, Ore. – What was once a single-possession game late in the second quarter turned into an offensive showcase for the visiting team on Tim Hills Court earlier this evening, as the Corban University Women's Basketball team went toe-to-toe with No. 4-ranked Southern Oregon University but allowed too many long scoring runs by the Raiders while failing to match on their own offensive end to fall 88-56 in their home gym.

Over double the number of turnovers committed (26-10) and shooting 14% worse than the nationally ranked Raiders (10-0, 4-0) from the field ultimately cost the Warriors (4-6, 2-2) a potential upset on their home court, as the Navy and Gold held their own for a quarter and a half before Southern Oregon's potent offense caught fire from the field for the remainder of the contest. A 10-0 run late in the second period gave SOU the distance they needed on the scoreboard to kick on cruise control and coast to the 32-point road win.

Guard Meghan McIntyre was unstoppable driving through the paint for Southern Oregon, dropping a game-high 16 points on 8-for-11 shooting and was able to hit layups at will, while also assisting on a game-best six scoring plays. Forward Morgan Baird added 13 points and hauled in four assists, while guard Sierra Scheppele converted on four three-point attempts for 12 points off the bench.

Warriors' redshirt sophomore guard Jenna Albrecht was the team-high scorer with 13 points along with a pair of rebounds, while sophomore guard Lizzy Bennett added nine more points, seven boards, and a season-high four blocks in the post. Senior forward Madison Hodnett pitched in seven points and brought down the game-high mark in rebounds with ten on her birthday gameday.

One final home conference for the Warriors sits between them and their Christmas break, as they'll host RV Oregon Tech (7-3, 3-1) tomorrow afternoon at 3pm in the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
