Warmouth Nets Forty as Warriors Clinch Spot in Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament

SALEM, Ore. – An absolute offensive masterpiece demonstrated by one of the Corban University Men's Basketball team's senior leaders allowed the Warriors to lock up a spot in the 2024 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) tournament earlier this afternoon on Tim Hills Court, as the Warriors handed an 83-59 loss to Walla Walla University to improve to 12-5 in conference play with just five games remaining in the regular season.

"I'm extremely proud of our senior leadership, especially with Collin and his massive night offensively," Warriors' head coach Taylor Kelly began with sharing. "It's a product of all the work he has put in and his ability to always stay dialed in. He's a great competitor and he really led us in every way tonight."

The second twenty-point plus margin of victory this season for the Warriors (15-7, 12-5) over the Wolves (5-17, 4-13) didn't come easily for the home team, as Walla Walla kept Corban in check throughout the entire first half, trailing by only five points entering the halftime break and causing fits for Coach Kelly and his team both offensively and defensively.

However, with just under second minutes remaining in the contest, Warriors' senior guard Collin Warmouth became absolutely untouchable from the field, as the Roseburg native outscored the Wolves 18-6 all on his own to conclude tonight's matchup and drastically raise his career-high scoring mark in the process.

Warmouth dropped the first 40-point scoring performance in a single game for the Navy and Gold in his career by connecting on 13 of his 19 field goal attempts, shooting 60% from beyond the three-point arc in the process (6-for-10), throwing in seven rebounds and four steals along the way just because he felt like it.

Senior guards were the talk of Corban's campus after the men's basketball team's dominant victory, as Taylor Anderson concluded his afternoon with a near triple-double performance that consisted of 17 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists for the fifth-year senior that continues to raise the bar as his final season progresses. Anderson, Warmouth, and junior forward Devean Hinton (eight points, nine rebounds) combined for over 78% of the Warriors' total points tonight to power the home team to their sixth-straight victory.

Wolves' guard Andrew Vaughn was a huge part of Walla Walla's ability to keep within striking distance for over 75% of today's bout, scoring a team-high 21 points with four rebounds along the way. Guard Ethan Ford went head-to-head with Anderson with his own all-around performance, scoring 14 points, hauling in nine rebounds, and dishing out six assists in 32 minutes of action.

A massive Saturday night home matchup awaits the Navy and Gold tomorrow on Tim Hills Court, as they look to avenge their first conference loss of the season to (RV) Lewis-Clark State College (16-7, 14-3) in a 5pm tip off for the two Warrior teams.
