PORTLAND, Ore. – All sixteen Warriors saw playing time today for the No. 4-ranked Corban University Women's Volleyball team, as they sprinted to a three-set road sweep at Warner Pacific University via 25-12, 25-17, and 25-9 set scores and outstanding offensive performances from a pair of upperclassmen leaders.
"I'm really proud of how our team played together today," began Corban head coach Kim McLain when asked about their result in Portland. "Everyone contributed and supported each other from start to finish. It was a solid team effort, and we showed great communication and teamwork throughout the match. I'm happy with the progress we're making each match."
It was all Warriors (15-4, 9-3) today at C.C. Perry Gymnasium on the campus of Warner Pacific, with the Knights (0-13, 0-12) hanging around early in each of the three sets played out before Corban women's volleyball rattled off long scoring runs to complete the season sweep of WPU. The Navy and Gold doubled the Knights up in total kills (41-20) and nearly in assists (38-20) as well, while leading in service aces (7-1) and digs (47-36) and holding Warner Pac to a .032 kill percentage and smashing a .363 attacking percentage of their own.
Junior outside hitter Kendra Bittle contributed a near double-double with 13 kills and eight digs while committing just a single attacking error, while senior opposite hitter Makayla Roginski added 14 kills with two errors to match Bittle with a .480 kill percentage. Bittle and Roginski combined for 27 of the team's 41 kills, with six other Warriors earning at least a single kill.
After senior setter Abby Guindy earned a game-high 11 assists in two sets played, Coach McLain gave way to junior setter Nadeiah Howard and true freshman setter Braeleigh MacAskill, who dished out eight and nine assists, respectively. Junior libero Kaile'a Ontai continued her defensive pace through the CCC with another 14 digs in the backcourt today.
Warner Pac was led offensively by outside hitter JahNay Jardine and her eight kills, double that of the next WPU attacker, which was middle blocker Josie Schultz with four kills. Setter Audey Histed dealt out a team-high ten assists, while libero Angel Camagay dug up nine Corban attacks.
