SALEM, Ore. – The Corban University Women's Soccer program saw their 2025 season come to an end today on their home turf, as they honored three senior student-athletes prior to kick off against Carroll College earlier this afternoon at the Outdoor Athletic Complex before eventually falling to the Fighting Saints 3-0 in game seventeen of the year for the Navy and Gold. The women's soccer careers celebrated before today's match included midfielder Gina Munguia-Martinez, midfielder Delaney Fiedler, and defender Chloe Vanderhoof.
"I'm excited for the future of our program," shared Corban head coach Brooke Alteneder following her team's final result of her inaugural season serving as the program's head coach. "Results come and go, but what we're building is special here. Looking ahead is always important when you're rebuilding the identity of a program, and that's exactly the shift we're making. Tonight was a tough end for our seniors' careers, but what they've given to Corban women's soccer will be here for a long time."
Vanderhoof became the first non-goalkeeper student-athlete in Corban women's soccer program history to log over 5,000 career minutes across her four years of starting in 54 contests and appearing in 65 overall as an integral part of the Warrior defense.
Carroll (7-4-5, 5-4-3) wrapped up their regular season with the 3-0 victory by netting the eventual game-winning goal just 45 seconds into today's contest at Corban (5-12-0, 2-10-0), as forward Sydney Coulter would cash in on a first minute scoring play and secured a brace with the third Saints' goal in the 53rd minute. Defender Hayley Smith eventually found the back of the net as well right before the halftime horn, as she took a game-high ten shots, seven of which were on-goal, to lead all offensive players. Goalkeepers Maria Ackerman and Allison Olson secured the combined shutout with three total saves made.
For the Navy and Gold, sophomore forward Maya Alston led the team's offensive attack with three shots, with Vanderhoof and Munguia-Martinez each taking a shot as well. Vanderhoof's shot on goal would have broken up the shutout late in the second half if not for a full extension leaping save by Olson. The collegiate career of redshirt senior goalkeeper Catriona Burns came to an emphatic end, as the United Kingdom native swatted away a career-high 20 saves during her final contest between the pipes.
With tonight's loss, the 2025 regular season has officially concluded for the Corban women's soccer program, as they finish the 17-game schedule with a 5-12-0 overall record and were 2-10-0 in CCC contests with 13 total goals scored and assists earned on eight of those scoring plays. They're set to return 25 student-athletes from the 2025 fall roster with plenty of both experienced and youthful returners set to grow under Coach Alteneder and her coaching staff.
