SALEM, Ore. – Prior to the 2017 fall season, the Corban University Women's Volleyball team had never swept Southern Oregon University in a single head-to-head match, and for yet another program-first in 2025, the No. 5-ranked Warriors flew to victory over one of their Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) rivals with dominant 25-12, 25-18, and 25-13 set scores over the Raiders in their penultimate regular season matchup.
"Southern Oregon is consistently a well-coached team and can be very aggressive at the net," Corban head coach Kim McLain explained earlier this evening. "We knew we had to defend strong at the net, and our blocking was a key factor tonight as well as serving tough to get them out of their offensive rhythm was also big for us. The grit and strength our team showed defensively was outstanding. I'm so proud of how they battled, played together, and came away with the win!"
The entirety of tonight's rematch between the Warriors (22-4, 16-3) and Raiders (13-13, 10-9) can be perfectly summarized by the final eight points of the first and seven points in the third sets, as Corban concluded each of the first and third sets on huge scoring runs that featured huge kills, massive blocks, and taking advantage of SOU miscues to remain undefeated on their home court in 2025. While Southern Oregon was able to hang around early in each of the three sets, vast scoring droughts by the Raiders created by the Navy and Gold resulted in the lopsided CCC victory and season-sweep clinching result against SOU.
Four-straight conference matchups for the Navy and Gold have now concluded with junior outside hitter Emma Bischoff registering double-double efforts, with tonight's possibly representing the most impressive one as she managed 13 kills and ten digs in just the three minimum sets needed to upend Southern Oregon. Across this four-game span, Bischoff is attacking at an incredibly wild success rate, as nearly half of all of her attacks are landing for kills, regardless of where she's taking off from across the court. Representing the only student-athlete in the CCC with three Attacker of the Week honors and the reigning award winner from November 3rd, Bischoff has seamlessly found another gear just in time for the postseason slate.
Bischoff's offensive efforts were complimented by senior opposite hitter Makayla Roginksi who added another nine kills with just one error for a .533 kill percentage, while junior outside hitter Kendra Bittle scored three service aces to Bischoff's two. Senior middle blocker Gracie Boeder handled the Warriors' defensive assignments with a game-high seven block assists. Both Boeder and sophomore middle blocker Addison Mills tacked on five kills apiece.
In her first senior weekend showing, setter Aby Guindy dealt out a game-high 18 assists with a service ace and two digs. Junior setter Nadeiah Howard dished out another 16 assists that when combined with Guindy, allowed the Corban offense to pummel SOU for a .390 kill percentage while Boeder, Mills, and the remainder of the Warrior attackers held the Raiders to a .080 overall kill percentage.
Middle blocker Tessa Zimmermann had the most consistent evening for the visiting squad, as she was 8-for-16 offensively with no errors to lead SOU in kills. Outside hitter Andressa Riebeiro Soares dug up ten balls defensively and added five kills, while opposite hitter Friley Curtiss tacked on seven kills but committed seven errors in the process.
Tomorrow afternoon, the Warriors will honor their three senior student-athletes who will all be participating in their final regular season home game as Warriors, with the Senior Day ceremony scheduled to begin promptly at 4pm and first serve against Oregon Tech (12-14, 6-13) shortly to follow.
