KIRKLAND, Wash. – Fans of the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) women's basketball league are in for a treat over the next three weeks to close out the regular season, as the No. 22-ranked Corban University Women's Basketball team has moved into a four-way tie for first place in the conference standings following their 81-64 road win over Northwest University. The Warriors picked up the weekend sweep in Washington with a season sweep of the Eagles this afternoon and now control their own regular season championship destiny with two of the final three weeks to be played on their home court, with three of their final four home games coming against the three teams they are currently tied with for the top spot in the CCC standings in No. 15-ranked Eastern Oregon University, RV Southern Oregon University, and RV Oregon Tech.
"Really happy with our effort this weekend to go 2-0 in Washington," Warriors' head coach Kylie Frizell explained at the end of their penultimate road trip in 2025-26. Tonight, we again got off to a slow start, but our press got us going in the second quarter where we were able to force some turnovers and get some stops that we could turn into transition baskets. Overall, I feel like we were evenly distributing the ball across the board. We are excited to prepare for Southern and OIT next weekend on our home court."
Another massive second quarter performance, just like in their previous win last night against The Evergreen State College, allowed the nationally ranked Warriors (18-4, 11-3) to pick up their fifth-straight win and fourth-consecutive road victory in CCC action, as they scored 31 points in the second period alone while holding the Eagles (7-15, 3-11) to just 14 points. Their 20-point halftime lead was easily sustained over the second half by shooting over 47% from the field on the day with 17 points scored off Northwest miscues.
Redshirt junior guard Jenna Albrecht led all scorers with 17 points on 50% field goal shooting, pulling down six rebounds and a pair of steals along the way. Redshirt senior guard Tori Younker and redshirt sophomore guard Jersey Huerta each scored 15 points apiece, with Younker falling two boards shy of a double-double outing. Finally, graduate student center Emilia Bishop scored 14 points and also missed out on double-double effort by two rebounds in just 21 minutes played to round out the double-figure scorers for Corban.
Less than 24 hours after their massive home win over Bushnell University, the Eagles offense was held to 64 points and just two double-digit scorers represented by guards Ellie Bost (16 points, seven rebounds) and Kaleah Medeiros (10 points), with four more student-athletes scoring either six or seven points apiece.
A massive four-game homestand for the Navy and Gold begins on Friday, February 6th at 5:30pm, as they look to complete their first season sweep of Oregon Tech (15-7, 11-3) in over 15 years since the 2010-11 season.
