Albrecht Opens Senior Weekend with Scoring Clinic as RV Warriors Sweep Season Results with RV Yotes

SALEM, Ore. – The RV Corban University Women's Basketball program kicked off their 2026 Senior Weekend in style tonight within the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center, as they rolled to a 79-65 victory over RV The College of Idaho to sweep the season series against the Yotes and further better their odds of clinching a top four seed in the upcoming Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Tournament over the final three games of the regular season.

"Tonight was a really fun start to our last weekend at home in the regular season in playing a really good College of Idaho team," began Corban head coach Kylie Frizell. "One thing we consistently talked about going into this game was just because we beat them in our first meeting means absolutely nothing going into tonight's game, as we knew we needed to replicate the same details we had in our initial win again today, which we did. The first quarter we were just giving them far too many easy opportunities on defense with lack of communication, and it showed with 51 total points scored. All we talked about at halftime was the adjustments we needed to make on the defensive side, as our offense was operating quite well but defensively, we just couldn't string together stops. So, it was awesome to see the team respond to the halftime challenge, and now we get to turn our attention to another huge conference matchup tomorrow on Senior Day."

In the first meeting between the Warriors (20-5, 13-4) and Yotes (18-7, 12-5) earlier this season across the Pacific Northwest in Caldwell, the Navy and Gold rode a 27-point first quarter into a lead they would never relinquish, which they were able to replicate tonight after scoring 29 points in the opening quarter and added another two-point margin in the second period to lead by nine at the halftime break, with their offense scoring at will against C of I.

After giving up 39 first half points, Frizell challenged her team to focus on making stops defensively and avoid getting into a shootout with the Yotes, which the Dubs responded to with a 14-5 third quarter in which C of I shot 1-for-13 from the field and scored over half of their points in the period on free throws. The visiting squad had just two turnovers in the quarter, but a fervent Corban defense prevented any open looks the Yotes were used to seeing in the opening 20 minutes of regulation. Thanks to the senior leadership of their core starting five, the Warriors kicked on cruise control after stretching their lead to as many as 20 points to clinch a Friday night victory on Senior Weekend.

The consistently high-pace offense of the Navy and Gold was on point once again on Tim Hills Court, scoring at a 54% success rate while shooting over 42% from deep and 77% from the free-throw line. Redshirt junior guard Jenna Albrecht once again led all scorers as she did in their initial meeting back in January, dropping 20 points on 7-for-9 shooting and was a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the three-point arc. She added six rebounds defensively, while redshirt sophomore guard Jersey Huerta pitched in 14 points and five rebounds. Senior forward Sevennah Van De Riet led all rebounders with seven boards in just 14 minutes played.

The Yotes had just a pair of scorers in double-figures today, led by forward Maiya Hardy and her 15 points on 60% field goal shooting. She added six rebounds, four of which came off the offensive glass, while forward Kylie Waltermeyer added ten points.

Tomorrow afternoon, the Corban women's basketball team will honor their five senior student-athletes who will participating in their final home regular season contest as Warriors, with Senior Day festivities scheduled to begin at 2:45pm prior to their 3pm tipoff against No. 14-ranked Eastern Oregon University (22-3, 14-3).
