Warriors Capture First Regular Season Conference Title in Fifteen Years, Will Host 2026 CCC Tournament Next Weekend

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – History was made today on Windemuth Court in southeastern Washington, as the RV Corban University Women's Basketball program rolled to a 99-59 regular season finale victory over Walla Walla University to clinch a share of the 2025-26 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Championship alongside No. 14-ranked Eastern Oregon University. However, following tiebreaker procedure, the Warriors emerge with the automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament, along with the No. 1-overall seed in the upcoming CCC Tournament which they will host starting on February 27th at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.

"This is such an incredible accomplishment achieved by our team tonight," began Warriors' head coach Kylie Frizell when asked to discuss her first regular season title as the program leader. "This title is a direct result of getting the buy-in and mentality change from year one of what it takes to be a championship contender. We made great strides in our first year despite our record not reflecting it, but over the course of the offseason and into this past fall term, we really turned a corner, and it showed over our regular season. This is an extremely difficult conference to play in, and being able to represent the top overall seed in the upcoming tournament on our home court is so special to us."

Regarding their forty-point win over Walla Walla earlier tonight, Frizell shared, "We were clicking in all facets of the game tonight, scoring at will while defensively we recovered from a rough first quarter. Tori was incredible breaking our single game three-point record, and just overall a great ending to our regular season. Now, we're excited to turn around and prepare to host the inaugural conference tournament at a single location, which we get to call our home court advantage."

Every member of the Corban women's basketball team (23-5, 16-4) that dressed today in College Place saw court time in the Warriors' forty-point drubbing of the Wolves (3-23, 1-19) on Walla Walla's Senior Day, as they shook off a narrow first quarter by allowing their defense to take centerstage and limit the Wolves to just eight second quarter points. A 31-point third quarter out of the halftime break for the Navy and Gold allowed Frizell to clear her bench and cruise to the road CCC victory.

Limiting miscues to just nine turnovers while assisting on 70% of all made field goals (26-for-37) resulted in the eighth final score of the regular season where the Dubs scored at least 90 points, with their defense holding Walla Walla to under 40% from the field. The Wolves' lone scoring threat, guard Jaylo Bello, scored a game-high 32 points to break her program's single season scoring record, yet was responsible for over half of her team's points as the remaining seven student-athletes combined for 27 points.

In the last game of the regular season, a program record fell to the hot-shooting hand of redshirt senior guard Tori Younker, who drained nine three-pointers on eleven attempts to set the new single game record for triples made, needing just 22 minutes to do so. Additionally, Younker set her new career-high scoring mark to do with 27 points scored to lead her team offensively. She also dished out five assists, trailing only redshirt sophomore guard Jersey Huerta who had six dimes. Of the thirteen Warriors to see floor time, twelve scored points in the 99-point offensive outburst.

The first ever CCC Women's Basketball Tournament to have all seven postseason contests played out at the same location will be hosted inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center next weekend, with four quarterfinal matchups scheduled for Friday, February 27th, two semifinal matchups on Saturday, February 28th, and finally the championship game on Monday, March 2nd. The Navy and Gold will face off against No. 8-seeded Northwest University (10-18, 6-14) at 5pm on the 27th, representing the third quarterfinal contest of the tourney. Tickets will be available to purchase online later this week on the Corban Hometown Box Office and also at the gate on gameday.
