Warrior Men’s Basketball Claims Second CCC Team of the Week Honor Following Tournament Title

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) office has announced the UnderArmour Team of the Week for competitions held between March 2nd to 8th, where the Corban University Men's Basketball program claimed their second Team of the Week honor of the year following their dominant run through the 2026 CCC Tournament that saw the Warriors claim the tourney championship for the first time since the 2021 spring season.

"This team never ceases to believe that they are capable of being overcomers and winners!" exclaimed Corban head coach Wayne Mendezona when he learned of his team's most recent achievement. "They have been doubted most of the year and have been up and down themselves in terms of their execution and ability to win consistently. However, when all the chips were on the line, they rose to the occasion as a team, not just as individuals and collectively willed their way to one of the greatest feats in Corban men's basketball program history. I couldn't be prouder of how they all came together at the right time through adversity to have one goal, one mindset, and one purpose. I'm very thankful to God, our players, coaching staff, and all those who have put so much effort and energy in supporting us achieve this major milestone!"

The Tuesday night championship overtime victory over No. 23-ranked Lewis-Clark State College is what clinched the tournament title and eventual CCC Team of the Week honor for the Navy and Gold (17-14), who continue their postseason Cinderella run that has seen them win three-straight road matchups, two of which have come over squads receiving votes in the NAIA coaches' poll. Their postseason victims thus far include RV Eastern Oregon University in the conference quarterfinals, I-5 rival Bushnell University in the semis, and the aforementioned LC State program, all of which came inside the hosts' home venues.

Thanks to the second automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament that the Warriors secured as the CCC tourney champs, they'll pack their bags and head back to the same state they began their 2025-26 regular season with a First Round rematch against No. 12-ranked Arizona Christian University (22-7) scheduled for Friday, March 13th at 5pm in Chandler, Arizona at the Coyote Center.
