RV College of Idaho Completes Weekend Sweep of Corban Softball

CALDWELL, Idaho – The defense and pitching kept the Corban University Softball team within striking distance throughout a majority of their weekend four-game set against RV College of Idaho, but the Yotes were able to shut down the Warriors' offense and complete the series sweep via 6-2 and 8-1 victories today in southwestern Idaho.

"Tough day for us today," began Warriors' head coach Jeff Covalt. "Moments of progress and some hard hit balls, just right at defenders. Amy rebounded and pitched well in relief, but we couldn't string any hits together offensively. Next week is a new opportunity and we are excited to see Eastern at home over the weekend."

C of I (25-15, 9-9) overpowered the Warriors (5-29, 4-17) from the opening frame and never looked back, as the Yotes secured their first home run of the weekend to immediately take the lead despite leading the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) in longballs throughout 2026. While the Corban offense struggled to string together hits in single innings, they still managed to secure just as many base hits as the Yotes did in game one, scoring a pair of runs on an RBI single and RBI double by freshman catcher Shelby Hillyer and senior designated player Peyton Foreman.

Sophomore starting pitcher Miranda Scovil accepted her second loss of the season after surrendering five earned runs across 2.1 innings before giving way to senior reliever Amy Jankowski who tossed 3.2 frames of shutout softball. She allowed just two hits and walked a pair yet did not allow a run. In game two, senior starter Kate Banks tossed the complete game effort and allowed six earned runs off ten C of I hits while striking out four Yotes.

Three separate members of the Navy and Gold tallied multiple hits in either game one or two of today's doubleheader, with senior shortstop Isabel Carattini leading by example in the opener with two hits and a run scored. In the series finale, Foreman and freshman shortstop Layla Burgess tallied two hits apiece, while Burgess scored the team's lone run. Foreman and freshman outfielder Irene VanDyke represent the only Warriors to record at least one base hit in both contests.

Yotes' starting pitcher Drew Williams tossed 9.0 innings across games three and four of the series, picking up the win in today's closing matchup while helping starter Kina Watts avoid a possible loss after VanDyke led off the top of the sixth with a single to left field. The duo allowed a combined three earned runs off 13 Corban hits, while Williams struck out seven batters in the second game alone. At the plate, C of I was led by four different offensive players who recorded multi-hit outings, including catchers Hallie Campbell and Marti Anderson who each secured two hits and multiple RBI.

The Warriors will return to the Willamette Valley and close out the 2026 regular season on their home diamond, as they welcome No. 4-ranked Eastern Oregon University (32-6, 14-4) to Warrior Field beginning on Friday, April 17th at 2pm. The program will celebrate their seniors on Senior Day the following afternoon on Saturday the 18th.
