SALEM, Ore. – The 2026 regular season came to a close today at Warrior Field for the Corban University Softball program, as the Navy and Gold wrapped up their four-game series with No. 5-ranked Eastern Oregon University via 9-0 and 9-1 wins for the Mountaineers, where the Navy and Gold celebrated the careers of their eleven senior student-athletes between games one and two of their final doubleheader.
"Sad to see the season come to an end, but I'm proud of the effort everyone made this weekend and across the entire year," explained Corban head coach Jeff Covalt when asked to discuss his team's last contests and overall spring season in review. "We made big strides this year and hope to continue taking steps forward in the most difficult conference across the NAIA to play in next season as well. In-game experience is a great teacher and picking up conference wins against both the second and fifth ranked teams in the country are memories we hope drives us to continue forward next year."
Between the opener and finale of the weekend series, the Warriors honored eleven senior student-athletes who played out their last home games for Corban University this afternoon. The double-digit senior class includes right-handed pitcher Kate Banks, shortstop Isabel Carattini, centerfielder Breanna Crosby, catcher Kassandra Douglas, first baseman Peyton Foreman, right-handed pitcher Amy Jankowski, leftfielder Josie Landis, left-handed pitcher Vanesa Quinones, rightfielder Gianna Redman, third baseman Leata Senio, and second baseman Pressley Staudenmaier.
In today's matchups, the Mountaineers (35-7, 16-5) took control of the scoreboard early and never looked back, picking up run-rule victories in six innings both contests to secure the series win and make up for their game two loss to the Warriors (6-32, 5-19) in yesterday's doubleheader that put them an extra game behind No. 1-ranked Oregon Tech entering the season finale next weekend.
In game one, the Navy and Gold loaded the bases on two separate occasions but came away emptyhanded each time thanks to EOU's pitching staff pulling through when it mattered most, holding the Corban lineup to six base hits in total, two of which belonged to sophomore first baseman Mckenna Hanson. The finale saw the Dubs earn base hits by four different seniors, represented by Carattini, Foreman, Douglas, and Staudenmaier.
Eastern Oregon picked up seven separate multi-hit outings today, led by shortstop Raygun Klippert who was 6-for-8 with three runs scored and an RBI across both contests from the leadoff spot of the lineup. Rightfielder Hope Burke also finished with back-to-back multi-hit appearances, tagging three RBI and two runs scored while third baseman Lexi Grumbois secured five RBI on the day off four base hits. In the circle, EOU relief pitchers Maliyah Manns and Isabella King earned the victories in today's contests.
The Corban softball team concludes the 2026 regular season at 6-32 overall and 5-19 in conference play, improving by two overall wins and three more wins in the CCC compared to the 2025 spring, two of which came against the No. 5-ranked Mountaineers and now No. 1-ranked Lady Owls. The program expects to return 12 student-athletes with double-digit recruits having already signed their letters of intent to join the squad entering the fall of 2026.
