Davidson Named CCC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) office has announced the CCC Players of the Week for the competitions held between August 24th and 30th, where the Corban University Men's Soccer program claimed their first individual honoree of the 2026 season behind a complete game shutout for their transfer starting goalkeeper. Redshirt sophomore Rylan Davidson was named the CCC Defensive Player of the Week after powering the Warriors to a 1-0 win on the road at NCAA DIII Pacific University.

"I'm excited for Rylan to earn this award, as it's always great to see our players get recognized for their efforts," shared Davidson's head coach Jordan Keegan. "He led our team extremely well from the back over this past weekend, as he's a strong leader who has taken ownership of the role that he took on this year as a transfer into our program. He's such a presence for us in the net, and as played out over this weekend, anyone should be nervous going up against him for a penalty kick. I'd be surprised if this is the only recognition he receives this year, as he's a top goalkeeper in our conference and has set a standard of excellence thus far."

Davidson anchored the Warrior back line in Corban's 1-0 season-opening victory over Pacific on Saturday in Forest Grove, where the keeper played all 90 minutes and recorded four saves while posting his first shutout of the 2026 campaign. Pacific managed seven total shots and four shots on goal, but Davidson turned away every scoring opportunity that came his direction.

The redshirt sophomore's biggest contribution came in the second half as Corban protected a one-goal advantage following Alvaro Castellon's first-half game winner. Davidson preserved the clean sheet with a pair of key saves and benefited from a missed penalty kick in the 76th minute as the Warriors secured the result. He finished the contest with a perfect save percentage and earned his first win of the season.

Corban's defensive effort was dominant throughout the match, limiting the Boxers to just seven shots and zero corner kicks while helping Davidson secure the shutout. The Warriors improved to 1-0-0 on the young season with the victory.

The Warriors will continue their 2026 campaign later this week as they return to action in non-conference play on their home turf against Pacific Union College on Friday, September 4th at 4pm.
