KIRKLAND, Wash. – The No. 4-ranked Corban University Women's Volleyball team continued completed their second-straight three-set sweep in Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) play on Friday evening, turning in a commanding performance on the road against Northwest University. Behind an efficient offensive attack, disruptive serving, and stout net defense, the Warriors rolled to set victories of 25-19, 25-13, and 25-17 to improve to 9-3 overall and 2-1 in CCC action.
"It was great to get another win under our belts," Warriors' head coach Kim McLain expressed. "I'm proud of our team's effort and the way we continued to play together. We're beginning to find our rhythm with each other, and I'm excited to see us continue to grow as we move forward."
Northwest (4-8, 0-3) jumped out to an early 8-3 lead in the opening set, forcing Corban (9-3, 2-1) to regroup after a sluggish start. However, the Warriors responded immediately by using a service run from senior outside hitter Emma Bischoff that featured a pair of aces and sparked a 6-0 swing to erase the deficit. Corban gradually seized control from there, receiving key contributions from Bischoff, junior opposite hitter Lauryn Copeland, junior middle blocker Gracee Robertson, and senior outside hitter Kendra Bittle. After the Eagles trimmed the margin to 19-18 late in the frame, the Warriors closed on a 6-1 run, punctuated by back-to-back Bischoff service aces, to secure the 25-19 opening-set victory.
The second set belonged almost entirely to the Navy and Gold, as Corban raced to a 10-4 advantage and never looked back as its defense frustrated the Eagle attack throughout the stanza. A dominant service stretch from senior setter Nadeiah Howard fueled an 8-0 run, with the setter recording three aces during the surge as the Warriors ballooned the lead to 17-6. Bischoff, freshman opposite hitter Greta Van Gemert, and redshirt sophomore middle blocker Jenna Konzelman helped maintain the pressure offensively, while the Warrior front row consistently controlled the net en route to a convincing 25-13 set win.
Looking to complete the sweep, Corban overcame another brief early deficit in the third set before quickly reclaiming command. Consecutive kills from Bischoff, Copeland, and Bittle helped build momentum, while the serving of sophomore setter Kawena Crowell and Howard kept Northwest out of system. The Warriors steadily extended their lead throughout the frame, building an eight-point advantage midway through the set before closing out the match on a Bittle kill to complete the 25-17 victory and the straight-set sweep.
Corban's balanced attack was led by Bischoff, who posted a match-high nine kills while adding five service aces. Bittle and Copeland each recorded six kills, while Van Gemert chipped in seven kills. Howard orchestrated the starting offense with 14 assists, a match-high six service aces, and four digs, while Crowell added 17 assists and two aces in reserve. Defensively, junior libero Dani Street led the back row with 10 digs, while Robertson and Copeland anchored the net with six block assists apiece. The Warriors finished with a .321 team attacking percentage and held Northwest to just a .083 clip.
For the Eagles, Jaelyn Moeva led the offense with six kills, while Teagan Schroeder and Lily Lundberg added five and four kills, respectively. Katelyn Bogetti directed the attack with a match-high 23 assists, and Sydney Faber paced Northwest defensively with nine digs. Schroeder also contributed a team-best three total blocks.
