Derek Legg

Derek Legg was named the head baseball coach at Corban University in June of 2017.

In his first year at the helm, he completely turned around the program, leading the program to a 28-26 overall record, third-place finish in conference, and the Warriors finished just one game shy of booking their ticket to the NAIA National Tournament.

Legg, a former NCAA Division I and Corban University baseball player, has served as an assistant coach at Corban since 2014, acting as the number one assistant coach during the past two years. While in charge of the team defense, infield and third base, he also was in charge of running the offense. On top of his time as an assistant coach at Corban, Legg led the Salem Capitols to the team’s first-ever Championship during the 2016 summer season in the Oregon Collegiate Baseball League.

Prior to coaching as an assistant at Corban, Legg was an assistant coach for the Bozeman Bucks. While with the Bucks, he was in charge of the pitchers, hitters, and infielders. During his playing career, he played at Long Beach State and Cal State Fullerton before transferring to Corban in 2013 to play his final season. While with Corban, he led the Warriors in hits, RBI, runs scored, doubles, and triples. He was recognized by Corban as the Warrior Male Athlete of the Year and was a First-Team All-Conference and Gold Glove award-winner for the conference.

“My staff and I are excited to put in the hard work to bring success to Warrior baseball on the field, in the classroom, and in the community,” said Legg. “It has been an exciting year for Corban Athletics, and we look forward to joining in on that success in the near future. Corban is a special place where we can use the platform of baseball to bring honor to the Lord and spread His glory. I’m thrilled to be able to lead these young men as we pursue excellence on this journey. Go Warriors!”

In his free time, Legg enjoys fishing, golfing, hunting, and competing in triathlons.
