Lute joined the Warrior men's basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach in the fall of 2018.
After playing basketball for Linn-Benton Community College and the University of Redlands, Lute went on to coach at the high school level at McKay HS, where he helped lead the Royal Scots to their first playoff appearance in 13 years. After spending nine years as an assistant coach there, he became the head coach at Crosshill Christian HS, where he finished with an impressive 115-49 record and five-consecutive seasons of 20 wins or more. He led the squad to four-straight elite eight appearances in the state tournament, highlighted by a third-place finish at the 2014 State Tournament. Decorated for his exceptional leadership, he was named the Conference Coach of the Year in both 2016 and 2018, while earning State Coach of the Year recognition in 2014.
Having earned his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Redlands, and his Master's in Counseling from Oregon State Univ., he currently resides in Salem with his wife Candace, and sons Cade, Miles, and Sam. An avid Oregon State Beaver fan, he enjoys attending OSU athletic events in his free time, as well as golfing and supporting his kids in their athletic endeavors.
