Lisa Serafin joined the Corban University women’s basketball staff in the fall of 2014 following a wide variety of coaching and administrative experiences during her career.
Over the past 20 years, Serafin has served as an athletic director, coach, and teacher. During her tenure, she’s coached both male and female teams to league championships and appearances in the state tournament, including State-Title winners, a second-place finisher, and fourth-place team. While winning 72% of her games during her coaching career, she collected numerous coaching awards and was nominated for the Disney Teacher of the Year honor once. Additionally, she has been a part of two mission trips.
During high school, Serafin was a four-year starter and garnered First-Team All-League plaudits and First-Team All-State honors while leading her team to third-and fourth-place finishes in the State Tournament. She led her team in scoring, assists, steals, and collected the team MVP award. On top of basketball, she was a state champion in track running the low and high hurdles, 4x100 Relay, and 4x400 Relay.
Following her successful high school basketball career, she received a full-ride scholarship to play at the University of Oregon. She eventually finished her playing career at Portland State University and led her team in assists, field-goal percentage, free-throw percentage, and steals.
Serafin received a Bachelor of Science degree in Teachers Education: Physical Education and Psychology from the University of Oregon and Portland State University.
With a mission of impacting lives through basketball, she enjoys the outdoors and sport-related activities. Now married for 23 years with two daughters, she currently resides in Salem.
