Just before the 2023 fall season, Travez Whyte was named the Head Women's Soccer Coach for Corban University and will serve as the head coach in an interim season for the program, offering him a more advanced role in the development of his coaching prowess as he pulls the Navy and Gold colors on once again in a leadership position.

An international product of the Corban men’s soccer program, Whyte traveled from Kingston, Jamaica to turn the Willamette Valley into his new home in the fall of 2014. In four seasons played with the Warriors, Whyte appeared in nearly 58 games, scored eight goals, two of which were game-winners for Corban, and added a trio of assists before graduating in the spring of 2018. He served in a crucial reserve role in the 2016 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Championship season for Corban, where the team recorded a program best 20-win season and swept both the regular season and conference tournament championships.

During a Covid-19 riddled season in 2020, Whyte served as a graduate assistant under former men’s soccer head coach Tim Kagey, where the program finished a shortened slate of 9-2-1 and earned their eighth consecutive trip to the NAIA National Tournament. Under Whyte’s guidance, the team climbed to as high as No. 15 in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll and concluded their season in the second round of the national campaign.

“It is a huge blessing from God to be able to lead in this way!” Whyte stated. “My awesome wife, Katie, and I are extremely excited to serve our women’s soccer program at Corban. Even my baby boy, Maz, just inherited 26 sisters that I know he’s going to love watch playing on the pitch.”

Whyte carried on with his introductory quote by sharing, “Being able to disciple, provide support, and teach the beautiful game of soccer is the best job in the world for me. I’m grateful to be able to give back to the Corban and Salem community in this way, especially since this is how God transformed my life during my collegiate career at Corban.”

When asked about the team he’s going to be coaching this upcoming season, Whyte said, “This is a very talented group of young ladies that I get the opportunity to invest in and help become the best version of themselves. It’s going to be a ton of fun building on top of a culture and family that is bold for Christ on and off the field, as we will work hard for each other and for the glory of God. Join us on this adventure, and let’s go Warriors!”
