Smith, who returned as head coach of the Warriors prior to the 2012 season, began her coaching stint in Salem in 1989. Before coming back to Corban, Smith spent five years in sports ministry with Athletes in Action where she coached and trained international tour teams and had an opportunity to work with some of the top NCAA Division I volleyball players in the nation. She was involved with leading Bible studies on collegiate campuses and mentored student-athletes across the country.

Now back at the helm, Smith aims to see the Warriors return to the consistent success the program experienced nearly a decade ago. The Warriors posted seven winning seasons and advanced to the Cascade Collegiate Conference postseason eight consecutive years from 1997-2004. With a 139-92 (.602) overall record and 84-49 (.634) conference mark during that span, the Warriors finished fourth or better in league action seven times and moved onto the NAIA regional tournament four times.

The Warriors were ranked in the NAIA Top 25 from 1997-99. Smith was named the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Coach of the Year in 1997, as he squad claimed the NCCAA national championship. Corban also won the Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament and achieved its highest NAIA ranking at No. 13 during the 1997 campaign.

Most importantly, Smith views volleyball at Corban as an opportunity for Christian student-athletes to grow athletically, academically, and spiritually. "It is a privilege to work with young women who desire to train and compete intensely, focused on honoring God in every aspect of life," Smith said.

Named a member of the Warrior Hall of Fame in 2010, Smith has an overall record of 251-316 during her tenure at Corban.

Smith’s husband, Tim, serves as one of her assistant coaches. They have two sons, J.D. and Jackson, who are currently students at Corban, while Jackson is a member of the Warriors' baseball team.
