Logan Leads Warriors to Victory Over Boxers

BOX SCORE

FOREST GROVE, Ore.
– Junior Ian Logan (Aloha, Ore.) poured in a game and career-high 25 points on 9-for-20 shooting from the field and a perfect 5-for-5 at the free throw line, as Corban's men's basketball team defeated NCAA Division III member Pacific, 110-106 in overtime, Friday night inside the Pacific Athletic Center.

For the first time since the 2004-05 season, Corban is undefeated after the opening two weeks of play at 4-0 overall. Meanwhile, Pacific evens its earlier season record at 1-1 after tonight's heart-breaking overtime loss.

"Being undefeated at this point is a good start and the guys are having fun," said eighth-year head coach Justin Sherwood. "It is good to come home on a hot streak, as the guys have a lot of confidence and are having fun. We played the last 25 minutes of tonight's game really well, as we were sluggish in the first half, and that should help tomorrow night when we begin our home schedule."

Logan was one of four Warriors in double figures, as senior Ben Potloff (Keizer, Ore.) tallied 21 points, junior Nash Keene (Aumsville, Ore.) poured in a career-high 20 points in a reserve role, and junior Deonte Johnson (Modesto, Calif.) registered a career-high 12 points in the victory. Freshman Jacob Kopra (Gresham, Ore.) came off the bench to provide eight points and a game and career-high seven rebounds, while sophomores Erik Cronrath (Battle Ground, Wash.) and Jake Mauermann (Clackamas, Ore.) added eight points each in the victory.

Corban trailed by nine points (49-38) at the half, but tourched the nets for 53 points in the second half en route to building a game-high eight-point lead (90-82) before Pacific came back with a closing 10-2 run that forced overtime.

In the extra period, Logan scored nine of his game-high 25 points and the Warriors went a perfect 8-for-8 at the free throw line en route to securing the come-from-behind victory.

Pacific was led by Adam McElwee's team-high 21 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the field that included a perfect 5-for-5 from behind the three-point line. McElwee led six Boxers in double figures, as LeMar Anglin (17 points), Ross Bartlett (16 points), Colin Webster (16 points), A.J. Gaulton (13 points), and Charles Mosley (10 points) tallied all but 13 of Pacific's points in the game. Galton and Bartlett grabbed a game-high tying seven rebounds for the Boxers, while Phil Stanford handed out a game-high five assists.

Corban shot 38-for-73 (52.1%) from the field that included a 9-for-19 (47.4%) showing from three-point range and a 25-for-30 (83.3%) showing at the free throw line. On the other hand, Pacific was 38-for-74 (51.4%) from the field, 12-for-22 (54.5%) from long distance, and 18-for-25 (72.0%) at the charity stripe.

The Warriors will return to the court tomorrow night – Saturday, November 21st – against California Pacific Conference member Holy Names beginning at 7:30 p.m. inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.

NOTE: Tomorrow night's action from the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center will be the first-ever video stream for Corban basketball, as all Warriors FAN-atics can watch the action live from the comfort of their own computer through the athletic department's partnership with Penn Atlantic.
