SALEM, Ore. – After battling back from an 11-point deficit with just over five minutes to play, Corban's men's basketball team fell one point shy against the visiting Hawks of Holy Names, 77-76, Saturday night inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.

With its first loss of the season, Corban falls to 4-1 overall. Meanwhile, Holy Names picked up its first win of the season and improved to 1-5 overall.

Junior Ian Logan (Aloha, Ore.) led all players with 25 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, while senior Ben Potloff (Keizer, Ore.) chipped in with 17 points on 6-for-13 shooting from the field.

Corban held a nine-point lead (41-32) in the first half following a pair of Logan free throws with just under one minute remaining. The host Warriors would fall victim to a closing 5-0 run by Holy Names at the end of the first half, as both teams went into the locker room with the score reading 41-37 in favor of Corban.

Holy Names would continue its run in the opening minutes of the second half, as the visiting Hawks used a 7-0 run over a span of 63 seconds to earn a three-point lead (44-41) after a Ben Clyde fast break dunk with 18:57 remaining in the game. From that point on, Holy Names would never relinquish its lead as Corban pulled with one point (77-76) following a pair of free throws by sophomore Erik Cronrath (Battle Ground, Wash.) with 44 seconds remaining. The Warriors' defense would hold up, as Corban had the final possession with 3.8 seconds left. An in-bounds pass to Logan would begin the play, as the third-year Warrior went the length of the court and had a contested shot along the baseline that floated up and over the bucket as time expired.

Cronrath and junior Nash Keene (Aumsville, Ore.) aided Corban's scoring with seven points each, while sophomore Brelin Powell (Boise, Idaho) registered six points on 2-for-3 shooting from the field. Junior Bryan Martin (Salem, Ore.) handed out a game-high four assists to go along with his three-point, six-rebound performance.

Holy Names had four players in double figures led by David Scott, who tallied 19 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the field. Zac Sewitsky and Johnas Street added 15 and 12 points respectively, while Joshua Smith chipped in with 10. Scott would led the Hawks' rebounding effort with seven boards, while Street handed out a team-leading three assists.

As a team, Corban shot 26-for-58 (44.8%) from the field that included a 6-for-17 (35.3%) showing from three-point range. Meanwhile, Holy Names was 33-for-76 (43.4%) from the field and 5-for-17 (29.4%) from long distance. At the free throw line, the host Warriors were 18-for-27 (66.7%) compared to HNU's 6-for-12 (50.0%) performance.

Corban will return to the hardwood on Tuesday, November 24th, when they travel north to Newberg to take on NCAA Division III member George Fox beginning at 7:30 p.m. inside the Wheeler Sports Center.
