Quartet in Double Figures, but Warriors Fall

BOX SCORE

SALEM, Ore.
– Two days after giving thanks for the good things in life, Corban's men's basketball team suffered its third straight loss in falling to NCAA Division III member Pacific University of Oregon, 78-65, Saturday evening inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.

After picking up an earlier victory this season over the visiting Boxers in overtime, Corban could not overcome a quick start by Pacific en route to falling to 4-3 overall this season. Meanwhile, Pacific improves to 2-3 on its young season.

Sophomore Erik Cronrath (Battle Ground, Wash.) led the Warriors in scoring for the second straight games, as the 6-foot-8 forward scored a team-best 17 points on 6-for-8 shooting from the field and a 5-for-7 performance at the free throw line. The second-year Warrior also pulled down a team-high tying six rebounds to go along with a game-high five blocked shots. Over the past two games, Cronrath is a combined 13-for-17 from the field and 12-for-16 from the free throw line.

Cronrath was aided scoring-wise by a trio of Warriors – sophomore Jake Mauermann (Clackamas, Ore.), junior Ian Logan (Aloha, Ore.), and freshman Jacob Kopra (Gresham, Ore.) – who scored 11, 10, and 10 points respectively. Mauermann and Kopra came off the bench to combine for 21 points on 6-for-13 from the field, while Logan was 2-for-9 from the field and 5-for-8 at the free throw line.

The host Warriors trailed by 15 points (44-29) at the half before outscoring Pacific by two points (36-34) over the game's final twenty minutes. Unfortunately, Corban's deficit was too much as Pacific avenged its earlier loss with the 13-point victory (78-65).

Pacific was led by LeMar Anglin's game-high 25 points on 9-for-16 shooting from the field and a 7-for-10 performance at the free throw line. Ross and Carson Bartlett aided Anglin's scoring effort with 12 and 10 points respectively, while Colin Wester added eight points off the bench.

Corban shot 18-for-58 (31.0%) from the field, while going 6-for-29 (20.7%) from behind the three-point line and 23-for-35 (65.7%) at the free throw line. On the other hand, Pacific was 28-for-71 (39.4%) from the field to go along with a 3-for-11 (27.3%) showing from long distance and a 19-for-27 (70.4%) performance at the charity stripe.

The Warriors will return to the court on Friday, December 4th, when they open Cascade Collegiate Conference play against Northwest Christian beginning at approximately 7:30 p.m. inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
