Quartet Scores in Double Figures in Loss to NAIA's No. 16-Ranked Warner Pacific

BOX SCORE

PORTLAND, Ore.
– Sophomores Clay Martin (Beaverton, Ore.) and Ian Logan (Aloha, Ore.) scored 19 points each on a combined 16-for-33 shooting from the field, but it was not enough as Corban's men's basketball team fell to the NAIA's No. 16-ranked Knights of Warner Pacific, 102-72, Friday night inside C.C. Perry Gymnasium.

After picking up an upset victory just over one month ago against then-No. 10-ranked Warner Pacific, Corban traveled north in an attempt to register its second win of the season over a nationally-ranked opponent.

Unfortunately, Warner Pacific put that notion out of the Warriors' minds quick thanks to a 60.5% (23-for-68) performance from the field in the first half en route to securing a 27-point lead (53-26) at intermission. The visiting Warriors attempted to stay in the game, but an 11-for-35 (31.4%) showing over the opening twenty minutes was not enough against their nationally-ranked opponent.

In the second half, Corban hung tough with the ranked Knights shooting 18-for-41 (43.9%) from the floor en route to scoring 46 second half points. Despite holding a slim three-point advantage (49-46) in the second half, Warner Pacific put up another 60-percent shooting display going 18-for-30 (60.0%) from the field that allowed the host Knights to secure the victory via the final margin of 30 points (102-72).

Along with Martin and Logan, another Warrior duo – junior Paul Martin (Beaverton, Ore.) and freshman Erik Cronrath (Battle Ground, Wash.) – scored in double figures with 14 and 10 points respectively. On the glass, Cronrath grabbed a team-best seven rebounds to go along with Logan and Clay Martin's six rebounds each. Cronrath also registered a team-high three assists, while blocking a team-best two shots.

After scoring only three points on 1-for-10 shooting from the field last month against the Warriors, Warner Pacific's Adam Moore rebounded tonight scoring a game-high 25 points on 10-for-16 shooting from the field. Along with Moore, four other Knights – Kenen Dizdrevic, Marquis Robinson, Tom Higgins, and Kaylone Riley – scored 16, 15, 15, and 14 points respectively to go along with Riley's game-high 10 rebounds. Dizdrevic handed out a game-high seven assists, while Riley blocked a game-high three shots.

On the night, Corban shot 29-for-76 (38.2%) from the field that included a 3-for-19 (15.8%) showing from beyond the arc and an 11-for-17 (64.7%) performance at the free throw line. Meanwhile, Warner Pacific was 41-for-68 (60.3%) from the field, 12-for-23 (52.2%) from three-point land, and 8-for-10 (80.0%) at the charity stripe.

With the loss, Corban falls to 9-17 overall and 5-12 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. On the other hand, Warner Pacific remains a ½ game out of first place thanks to its CCC mark of 12-5 that is included in a 19-6 overall record. The Warriors are back in action on Saturday, February 14th, when they continue play in the Rose City against the Thunderbirds of Cascade beginning at approximately 7:30 p.m. inside the ThunderDome.
