Warriors Fall to Conference-Leading Cavaliers

PORTLAND, Ore.
– In a battle against the conference-leading and nationally-ranked Cavaliers of Concordia, Corban's men's soccer team could not overcome an early goal falling 5-0 Saturday at Delta Park despite a game-high nine saves by freshman goalkeeper James Myrvold (Sandy, Ore.).

With today's result, Corban falls to 4-6-1 overall and 3-4-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. On the other hand, Concordia improves to 9-2-0 overall and 6-1-0 in league games.

Concordia would get on the board in the fourth minute, as Jared Brace took a pass from Mirza Ramic and tapped home the eventual game-winner from eight yards out for the early one-goal lead.

Less than 20 minutes later, Concordia would add to its lead when Ramic teamed with Facundo Dipascuale at the 19:50 mark via a touch pass that resulted in a goal from 12 yards out.

Just before halftime, Concordia would add to its lead when Dipascuale scored via a rebound off an original shot taken by Septi Danciu in the 38th minute.

Concordia would continue to hold its three-goal lead until the 81st minute when Corban scored an own goal that ricocheted off a Warrior defender into the back of the goal for a four-goal Cavalier lead.

The game's final score would come in the 88th minute when Concordia's Graham Humphries took a pass from Zach Madison and rifled a shot off the cross bar into the back of the net from 12 yards out.

Myrvold would lead the Warriors' defense with a game-high nine saves, while Concordia's Claudio Lazar snagged two saves in 67 minutes of action before giving way to Cole Dahle for the final 23 minutes.

On the afternoon, Concordia would out shot Corban, 21-5, with junior Ruben Lopez (Keizer, Ore.) registering a team-high two shots for the Warriors.

Corban will return to the field on Friday, October 15th, against the Hustlin' Owls of Oregon Tech beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Klamath Falls.
