Miller's Game-High 25 Leads to Win Over Owls

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.
– At the 15:19 mark of the first half, senior Jennesa Miller (Mica, Wash.) scored her sixth point of the night to become the 13th player in program history to score 1,000-or-more points in a career and tallying a game-high 25 points in a 77-69 win over Oregon Tech Saturday on Danny Miles Court.

In her illustrious four-year career, Miller has scored 1,021 points and ranks 12th on the all-time list ahead of former Warrior Aubrey Dickson. The senior co-captain also became only the fourth player in school history to record more than 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 200 assists in a career joining former Warriors Tosha Wilson and Jessica Steigleman along with current teammate and junior Katie Steigleman (Eugene, Ore.).

Miller was 11-for-14 from the field to go along with a game-high tying 11 rebounds, while Steigleman and fellow junior Becky Buhler (Clackamas, Ore.) added 15 and 11 points respectively. On the boards, Miller was aided by Steigleman with a matching 11 boards to go along with a game-high seven assists by sophomore Emily Tsugawa (Gladstone, Ore.).

Out of the gate, Corban scored the opening six points before extending its lead to a game-high 11 points (13-2) following Miller's milestone jumper with 15:19 remaining. The visiting Warriors would hold the lead until the 4:40 mark when Oregon Tech knotted the game for the first time at 22-all thanks to a Brittany Cherry free throw. Over the next four minutes, the host Owls would use an 8-2 run en route to grabbing its largest lead of the game (30-24) before Corban scored the final five points concluding with a buzzer-beating jumper by Steigleman to cut the deficit to one point (30-29) at halftime.

The second half would be a back-and-forth battle with neither team grabbing more than a four-point advantage until the score was knotted for the 15th and final time at 64-64 with 2:46 left on the clock. Corban would then use an 11-2 run over a span of two-plus minutes to secure a nine-point lead (75-66) and wrap up its third straight win.

Oregon Tech was led in scoring by Karissa Dixon with 14 points, while two other Owls – Kassi Conditt and Crissy Watts – added 13 and 11 points respectively. Conditt also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds for OIT, while Dixon and Coleen Hunt handed out a team-best three assists each.

As a team, Corban shot 28-for-65 (43.1%) from the field to go along with a 3-for-15 (20.0%) showing from beyond the three-point line and an 18-for-24 (75.0%) performance at the free throw line. On the other hand, Oregon Tech was a combined 22-for-73 (30.1%) from the field, 6-for-14 (42.9%) from long distance, and 19-for-28 (67.9%) at the charity stripe.

With tonight's win, Corban improves to 14-9 overall and 9-4 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. Meanwhile, Oregon Tech falls to 10-15 overall and 2-11 in league games. The Warriors will return to the court on Friday, February 4th, against nationally-ranked Concordia on "Think Pink Night" beginning at 5:30 p.m. inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.

NOTE: Tonight's victory moved Corban into sole possession of second place in the current CCC standings, as the Warriors are a ½ game ahead of Concordia following the Cavaliers' 72-64 loss to Eastern Oregon earlier tonight.
