Carter & Company Unable to Knock Off No. 6 OIT

BOX SCORE KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Sophomore Jordan Carter scored a game-high 19 points on 5-for-11 shooting from the field, but Corban's men's basketball team fell to the NAIA's No. 6-ranked Hustlin' Owls of Oregon Tech, 93-71, Friday on Danny Miles Court.

The high-scoring sophomore was aided offensively by senior Erik Cronrath and junior Jacob Kopra with 15 and 10 points, respectively, while senior James Green added eight points and team-high tying six rebounds. Sophomore Josiah Sebens chipped in with six points and equaled Green on the boards with six rebounds, while Carter handed out a team-high four assists.

Oregon Tech quickly jumped out to a double-digit lead (18-7) over the opening seven-plus minutes, as Scotty Riddle capped the Owls' opening run with a three-pointer at the 12:57 mark. Corban would cut the lead to six points (18-12) with a 6-0 run that ended on a three-pointer by senior Jake Mauermann before Oregon Tech wasted little time in pushing its lead to 17 points (41-24) thanks to a 24-12 run thanks to a jumper by Bryant Sentman with 3:44 left. The visiting Warriors would close out the half on a 11-6 run en route to cutting the deficit to 12 points (47-35) at the break.

The second half would belong to the host Owls, as Oregon Tech continued to hold at least a 15-point lead before pushing to as much as 21 points (67-46) on another Sentman jumper with just under 11 minutes left. Riddle would give Oregon Tech its largest lead of the night (82-59) with 5:24 on the clock before Corban settled for a final difference of 22 points (93-71) for its first conference loss of the season.

Oregon Tech was led offensively by four starters in double figures, as Sentman poured in a team-high 16 points on 7-for-8 shooting from the field. Meanwhile, three other Owls – Bobby Hunter, Jason Gamblin, and Kyle Gomez – added 15, 13, and 10 points respectively to go along with Riddle's 14-point effort. On the boards, Gomez pulled down a game-high seven rebounds to go along with David Clarke's game-high 10 assists.

As a team, Corban combined to shoot 22-for-48 (45.8%) from the field to go along with a 7-for-21 (33.3%) showing from beyond the three-point line and a 20-for-26 (76.9%) performance at the free throw line. On the other hand, Oregon Tech was 38-for-70 (54.3%) from the field, 8-for-17 (47.1%) from long distance, and 9-for-10 (90.0%) at the charity stripe.

With tonight's result, Corban evens its win-loss record at 5-5 and falls to 0-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. Meanwhile, Oregon Tech improves to 9-1 overall and 1-0 in league games. The Warriors will return to action tomorrow – Saturday, December 3rd – against the Raiders of Southern Oregon beginning at approximately 7:30 p.m. inside Riehm Arena in Ashland.
