PORTLAND, Ore. – Corban's women's volleyball team dropped its eighth straight match falling in a three-set sweep to the Knights of Warner Pacific, 3-0 (17-25, 19-25, 17-25), and former head coach Nels Norquist Saturday inside C.C. Perry Gymnasium.
With the loss, Corban falls to 3-16 overall and 1-12 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. Meanwhile, Warner Pacific improves to 13-8 overall and 7-6 in CCC matches. The host Knights also jumped back into the CCC playoff picture, as Warner Pacific currently stands in fifth place in the current league standings.

Chandra Teague led the Warriors with 11 kills, 12 digs, and three blocks. Junior

Courtney Mulford, and freshman
Caitlin Marinos all aided Teague's effort with six, four, and four kills, respectively. Sophomore setter
Katherine Salness would lead Corban's offense with 24 assists and also added nine digs, while freshman libero
Kiersten Hilt helped anchored the Warriors' back line with 11 digs of her own.
The opening set would be a back-and-forth battle over the opening 18 combined points until Warner Pacific broke a 9-9 tie with a 6-2 run that resulted in a four-point lead (15-11) thanks to back-to-back kills by the Knights' Devan Belshe and Marchelle Bostic. Corban would get as close as three points (16-13) thanks to a kill by
Kendra Staymates before Warner Pacific scored six of the next seven points en route to building a seven-point lead (22-15). The host Knights would cruise to the victory, 25-17, thanks to three kills by Mikaela Lisoski over the set's final five points.
Set #2 would see Warner Pacific jump out to a quick seven-point lead (11-4) before Corban pulled within two points (14-12) thanks to an 8-3 run that concluded with a kill by Marinos. Unfortunately that was as close as the Warriors would get thanks to a 6-2 run that resulted in a 20-14 lead. The host Knights would close out the middle set winning five points before Corban could close the gap, as Warner Pacific took a two-set lead thanks to a 25-19 victory.
The third and final set would see both teams battle toe-and-nail over the opening 26 combined points until Warner Pacific broke a 13-13 tie with a 9-2 run that resulted in a 22-15 lead for the host Knights. Warner Pacific's lead was too large for Corban to overcome, as the Knights took the final set by the score of 25-17 en route to earning the sweep.
Warner Pacific was led offensively by Rylie Engelson with a match-high 12 kills to go along with 15 assists, while Belshe and Lisoski added nine kills each. Bostic handed out a match-high 28 assists for the Knights, while Belshe anchored WPC's defense with a match-high 16 digs to go along with a 13-dig effort by Samantha Bryan.
Corban will return to action on Friday, October 19th, against the visiting Raiders of Southern Oregon beginning at 7:00 p.m. inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center in Salem.
