OLYMPIA, Wash. – A 12-0 run over a span of four minutes and 10 seconds in the second half would help lead Corban's men's basketball team to a 68-57 victory over the Geoducks of The Evergreen State College in Cascade Collegiate Conference play Tuesday inside CRC Gymnasium.
With tonight's result, Corban pushes its winning streak to two games improving to 4-6 overall and 1-2 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. Meanwhile, Evergreen falls to 1-9 overall and 0-2 in league games.

Dustin Moore also tallied double figures in points with 11. Freshman
Andrew Evans would put together an all-around game with nine points, a game-high seven assists, and six rebounds, while Butler pulled down a game-high nine rebounds for the Warriors. Kopra would tally game-high totals of three blocked shots and three steals, while the freshman duo of
Cyrus Ward and
Kent Foster rounded out the Warrior scorers with seven and five points, respectively.
Corban, who was coming off a nine-day break between games, would jump out to a quick seven-point lead (12-5) in the game's opening six-plus minutes, as Foster ended the run with a lay-in at the 13:30 mark. Over the next three minutes, Evergreen would use a 10-2 run to pull ahead by a single point (15-14) before Corban grabbed the lead once again at 16-15 thanks to a jumper by Ward with 10:23 on the clock. Unfortunately, the Warriors' lead would not last long thanks to a 5-0 run by Evergreen that concluded with a fast-break lay-in by Darryl Jordan with 9:35 left giving the Geoducks a 20-15 lead. A three-pointer by Moore 90 seconds later would conclude a 9-2 run by Corban en route to handing the Warriors a 24-22 lead with 8:18 remaining. A 6-0 run by Evergreen over the next five minutes would push the Geoducks ahead by four points (28-24) before the home team settled for a slim two-point advantage (28-26) at halftime.
The second half would begin with Kopra scoring the first five points on a lay-in and three-pointer resulting in a three-point (31-28) lead for Corban in the opening 66 seconds. Evergreen would recapture the lead thanks to back-to-back buckets by Travis Wagner and Marc Taylor for the Geoducks' final lead of the night (33-31) with 17:07 on the clock before Corban's defense stepped up the pressure. Over the next four-plus minutes, Corban would use the aforementioned 12-0 run en route to securing a 10-point lead (43-33) with Evans closing out the run on a jumper with 12:57 left. Evergreen would pull within six points (43-37) before Corban used another run to pull ahead by 12 points (49-37) on a jumper in the paint by Ward with 9:45 on the clock. The visiting Warriors would continue to apply the pressure pushing their lead to a game-high 15 points (62-47) on a free throw by Evans with less than two minutes left. Corban was a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line in the game's final minute, as the Warriors settled for the 11-point victory (68-57).
Evergreen was led offensively by K.J. Hong with 11 points, while Wagner and Elzie Dickens added eight points each. On the boards, Dickins grabbed a team-high seven rebounds to go along with a four-assist performance by Frankie Johnson.
As a team, Corban combined to shoot 24-for-52 (46.2%) from the field that included a 7-for-17 (41.2%) showing from beyond the three-point line and a 13-for-18 (72.2%) performance at the free throw line. On the other hand, Evergreen was a combined 23-for-63 (36.5%) from the field, 5-of-21 (23.8%) from long distance, and 6-of-10 (60.0%) at the charity stripe.
Corban will return to the hardwood tomorrow – Tuesday, December 18th – against the NAIA's No. 21-ranked Eagles of Northwest beginning at approximately 7:30 p.m. inside the NU Pavilion in Kirkland, Washington. Meanwhile, Evergreen will host Northwest Christian at 7:30 p.m. inside CRC Gymnasium in Olympia also on Tuesday.
