SALEM, Ore. – Behind a game-high 20 points by senior
Marcus Butler, Corban's men's basketball team upset the NAIA's No. 24-ranked California Maritime Academy with a 66-54 win Saturday inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
With tonight's win, Corban improves to 3-6 overall. Meanwhile, Cal Maritime had its six-game winning streak snapped en route to falling to 10-3 on the season.

Jacob Kopra. On the boards, Kopra and Sebens each grabbed a team-high seven rebounds, while freshman
Andrew Evans handed out a game-high six assists.
In the opening four minutes of the game, Cal Maritime would build a slim three-point lead (6-3) before Corban used a 16-2 run to grab an 11-point lead (19-8) on a lay-in by Sebens with 12:12 on the clock. The host Warriors would push the lead to 12 points (23-11) before Cal Maritime used a 9-2 run to pull within 25-20 thanks to an old-fashion three-point play by Anthony Simi at the 7:15 mark. Corban would push its lead back to nine points (31-22) on a fast-break lay-in by Butler with 4:26 left before Cal Maritime closed out the first half on a 7-2 run to bring the halftime score to 33-29 in favor of the home team.
The second half would begin with Corban using a 17-6 run over the opening 10 minutes en route to earning a 15-point advantage (50-35) on a three-pointer by Sebens with 10:19 left. Over the next nine minutes, Cal Maritime would use a 24-7 run to pull within six points (57-51) on a lay-in by Simi with 1:31 on the clock. The final 90-plus seconds would see Corban hit seven-of-nine free throws that included a clinching three-point play by Butler with 28 seconds left en route to earning the 12-point victory (66-54).
Cal Maritime was led offensively by Keven Campbell with 18 points off the Keelhaulers bench, while Simi added 13 points off the bench also. Jacquai Wiley grabbed a game-high nine rebounds for CSM, while Casey Healy handed out a team-high two assists.
As a team, Corban combined to shoot 25-for-56 (44.6%) from the field that included a 9-for-27 (33.3%) performance from beyond the three-point line and a 7-for-10 (70.0%) showing at the free throw line. On the other hand, Cal Maritime was a combined 21-for-57 (36.8%) from the field, 3-of-22 (13.6%) from long distance, and 9-of-11 (81.8%) at the charity stripe.
Corban will take a break over the next week in order to participate in fall semester finals, as the Warriors will return to the hardwood on Monday, December 17th, against the Geoducks of The Evergreen State College beginning at approximately 7:30 p.m. in Olympia, Washington.
